I am so excited that I needed to create a thread. I have been successful in my Eurovision ballot and going to the final in May!!! I’ve been a lifelong Eurovision fan and been wanting to go for elevate (but been hard as DCs are little) and this year I’m going! CANT BLOODY WAIT!!

Not standing, but really good seats for DD (20) and I. We loved every minute of it. The vibe in and outside the arena was so much fun. I was amazed that so many people already knew the words to some of the fan-favourite acts and were singing along. And lots of singing in the streets afterwards too.

Our favourite bit was watching the set change. In the time it takes to introduce the act and play the little Country-specific 20 second video to the viewers at home, the floor of the set lit up with the outlines of where whatever set pieces the next act needed and on scurried a really professional crew to set it up in record time.

You won’t notice you’re on your own once you get in there. I imagine you’ll have to check coats and bags in for security reasons but someone who’s been before will be along to confirm.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/02/2025 19:34

Do you get to go to all parts of it - like the rehearsals and the live recording of the semi-finals and finals and then the live broadcast?

I've never been to eurovision, but I've been to festivals and gigs alone and always had a ball and met some fantastic people.

With the eurovision you could befriend anyone from 18-80 from anywhere in the world, it's going to be amazing. Don't be nervous, this is a massive deal, don't let anything take the shine from your disco ball 🤣

Thank you for this! Deffo going to have some gins before and enjoy the whole atmosphere and not worry about being alone!

I've been to the final, in a European country. So much fun! Really positive vibe, families all joining in.

Agree with pp about set changes, they're so impressive!

Have a fab time.

Congratulations @HalloBasel !! It’s a bucket list item of mine too, I’m seething with jealousy 😂. Have a fabulous time, if you want to come back and give us a report in May I’m sure you will have lots of avid readers!

Jonolas · 02/02/2025 19:47

Copenhagen! No tips really, we just had a laugh. You may well meet lots of Aussies! They go crazy for it! Give yourself time to explore the town as well (not that I've been)!

We will think of you on the watchalong thread. Perhaps you could wave a flag with the MN logo so we can spot you in the crowd 😄

Aaaah OP have the most amazing time 🎉!! I'm sooo jealous - this is a huge bucket list event of mine and DH & I absolutely love Eurovision!

blackbird77 · 02/02/2025 20:35

I’m so jealous OP! Congratulations! Also, I have been to lots and lots of gigs and shows and concerts by myself - everything from big arena/stadium concerts to sit down shows and it’s always been an absolute blast. Everyone around you will be so friendly and you will feel so at ease.

HalloBasel · 02/02/2025 19:24

Ah thank you, a few people in real life have been confused that I’m going alone and have made me nervous. In all honesty I am not the most confident person so that got me worried!!

maybe I’ll buy some sparkly flats this week and start breaking them in advance 😂

Do you think any men ever gets asked this stupid question of how they are going to a gig alone? What is it about going to Switzerland by yourself is making these people so confused? Unless you require a carer you can bloody well manage a trip to Switzerland. Its not Saudi arabia where you need to be chaperoned. Enjoy your summer,oh and wear uniqlo heattech thermal layers under your sparkles if you cant take a coat, they are on sale now.
