The fascination of going to new shops when there are others in the area

Whenever a new shop opens or reopens after a refurb, even there are shops of the same chain in the area. Why does everyone feel the need to visit the new shop? Majority of new openings do not give out freebies, draws for £100 gift card/win cost of shopping back anymore. They must have visited the other shops of the chain and the new stores ranges are very very similar to existing shops.

I have visited other B&M, Aldi and The Range on the first few days of another reopening and staff said everyone is going to (location of new/refurbed shop) and its so quiet.

To see if there’s fresher new season stock or a wider range of lines stocked, I suppose. Isn’t that a fairly normal shopping activity?

Why does it... bother you?

I would have thought it's a fairly normal thing to do. A lot of people like to see what new places are like.

A change is as good as a rest

Because it’s a new shop with new things. If it’s had a refit then they might carry lines that they didn’t before.

When an Apple reseller, not an Apple Store, opened in my town a few years ago there was a queue a couple of hundred people deep! I don’t know what they thought would be inside!

Though I tend to stick to my local supermarket and I get irrationally cross when they move things about for their own amusement .
