Returning used item to Dunelm

I bought a new mop a few days ago, and used it for the first time this morning. It was pricey and appeared to have good reviews, so was really disappointed to find it's crap.

The mop head matted after first use, and can see that any dirt is trapped in the fibres forever. Also, it's sopping wet, the wringer isn't great, and no idea how I'll dry it between uses.

My 'old' mop head can just be thrown in wash each time and coms out like new, but can instantly tell this is the case for this one.

So anyway, do I have a leg to stand on taking this back to Dunelm for a refund/exchange? Their website states free returns if you decide you don't like item on product listing, but then on refund page says items must be unused so not that helpful here.

Yes take it back & tell them it’s not fit for purpose! If it’s wet you could always give them a demo 😂
