Can scrolling on social media make you feel unwell?

Can scrolling make you feel ill/give you physical symptoms?

I have been off work for the last 2 days.

Admittedly, I woke up both days and scrolled on TikTok for around an hour. Which I hate!!

I then have been out for the day, so haven’t been on it all day. I have found myself scrolling more than usual, like when I have been eating lunch or sitting on the toilet.

I looked at my screen time, it’s been the same both days.
i have been on TikTok for about 1hour 30 on both days, and instagram for around 30 minutes. And safari for around an hour and a half also.
So not horrendous, but not great.

Today I have felt really lethargic and tired, brain foggy, and had headaches all day. I just don’t feel right.

Can scrolling cause this???

Yeah it really does. Slow day at work, my colleague and I both sit at our desks moaning, chugging water and popping ibuprofen because we've been staring at our phones so long we've given ourselves migraines.

I am not medically trained in any way but I doubt that amount of scrolling could cause serious issues? Especially as it wasn't continuous.

Perhaps you are going down with a virus op?

I think some people are affected by certain forms of vertigo if they are on screens a lot.

What can cause illness though is taking your phone in to the loo because the germs get transferred from there on to the phone and then back on to your hands.

I hope you feel better soon.
