Has anyone heard this song
I heard it other other day and was so so shocked by the lyrics I nearly had a heart attack 😂
Why do mainstream artists bring out utter filth like this. I really don’t like my kids (teenage) hearing this garbage….ive listened to some garbage in my time but it’s another level and is shocking to me coming from such a popular artist.
I know everyone will be like well they will hear it on YouTube/tiktok…..but I’d really like it not to be coming up on Spotify which they listen to alot 🫣

Bleurgh. Revolting song. My daughter absolutely loves his APT song as well which is a shame. Why do some singers just degenerate? He started out singing poppy songs with people in monkey suits but i guess he's trying to be edgy now. Sigh.

Yeah, why HAS he gone like this? He has had sooo many great songs. I really liked him. Now he comes across as a dirty sleazy middle aged man. Even on Instagram he looks slimy and sleazy. And the 4th photograph on there of him (with the woman with red hair and tattoos on her thighs) is gross. They both look awful. 😖

spacepies · 27/01/2025 22:10

Just played it on youtube its not my kinda song nice beat to it though.
I think WAP is worse im a shamed to say i know the whole thing.
Plus cardi B has made some good and some bad but i like most of her tunes.

AshCrapp · 27/01/2025 22:26

Having now subjected myself to listening to it, I agree that it's the sleazyness and way it's forced that make it so awful, more than graphicness per se. Go to Town by Doha Car is arguably an example of a woman asking for oral sex that is more graphic, but it isn't crude, partly because it comes across as much more genuine.

I am a big fan of contemporary chart pop and hip hop, almost exclusively by female artists, and do recognise that much of it does contain strong or sexual language. However, artists such as Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo, who frequently swear on their records, also usually record clean versions of their songs in recognition of their younger fans. However, I do not think this is a prerequisite, I think it is fine for adult pop stars to use adult language in their songs without undue censorship. Our friends little girls are all big fans of Chappell Roan, for example, and, due to her sudden rise to fame, she had not recorded a child-friendly version of her album and yet their parents seem happy enough for their kids to listen to her most recent album. I think different parents have different comfort levels when it comes to what their children hear so blanket-banning may not be appropriate.
I must admit that I am less uncomfortable with sexual lyrics when the performer is female than when it's a man. I'm a big fan of Doja Cat and Nikki Minaj, for example, both of whom have some very strong sexual lyrics, the type of lyrics which I think would bother me if sung by a male rapper, double standards maybe but I think power dynamics are a big part of it. Asong like WAP by Cardi B and Meghan Thee Stallion, for example, while quite crass, seems more empowering when sung by two women whereas it could easily have been degrading if sung by a man.
I see the Bruno Mars song in question is a duet with Sexyy Red, who I mainly know for guesting on the only Drake song I have ever heard which I didn't find interminable, so I have some respect for her skills! Not sure if her presence on the Bruno song makes it more palatable, probably.

Redbone · 27/01/2025 22:36

I used to love Bruno but this latest is total rubbish and that is putting it mildly.

@DalzielOrNoDalzielAndDontPascoe I'm ready to remix this, for optimal profits. Are you ready to headline Glasto?

The crowd will go mad for this.

I've got David Guetta and Calvin Harris fighting over who gets to do it on Zoom right now!!

Twixtmasjigsaw · 27/01/2025 22:39

Anyone know anyway of blocking it from Apple Music? My DS is autistic, has next to no social awareness, and has a habit of quoting song lyrics at contextually random times. I really don't want him within 10 miles of this song.

Well, as flattering as that is, just don't forget who saw your potential first.

Yes, actually I do

What's creative about this song?

Is it beautiful? Is it clever? Is it witty? What story does it tell? What emotions does it touch? Is it amusing?

I thank the lord I'm the age I am. I grew up listening to my parents' music, my older siblings' and then the music that mattered to me.

I know old folks never seem to understand the music that comes later but this is beyond that.

I don't want music played that is offensive to anyone listening

Yes, beautifully summarised.

We had Color Me Badd with I Wanna Sex You Up and Salt 'N' Pepa with Push It 'in my day' - both very clear in what they were getting at, but still with musical and lyrical merit, and a little discretion, whether you liked the one-dimensional directness or not.

I think you can very easily write a clearly 'adult' song about sex, without making it a detailed instruction manual - like it was written by Zanussi (and probably arrived in English via 34 other languages).

IHateBakedBeans · 27/01/2025 23:00

I'll go back to listening to Taylor Swift

Alltheyearround · 27/01/2025 23:01

The Appliance of Science! vs Miele's 'Always Better'?

Never knowingly undersold....

That's always an excellent idea, I listen to a lot of music but nothing comes close to Taylor, she has a song for every possible mood or occasion!

Anyotherdude · 27/01/2025 23:36

Uurghhhhh!

TheaBrandt · 27/01/2025 23:55

Ooh hard agree about Taylor. Basically rotate evermore / folklore / lover / reputation / TPD and midnights. Lovely lyrics and songs for every mood and no grim talk or graphic demands for oral sex 🤮

Roxieandthegang · 27/01/2025 23:56

Theres a weird thing going on in this thread, I didn’t send this…

Wow it’s makes Relax by Frankie goes to Hollywood look like a nursery rhyme.

No too much it’s disgusting. Its really sad that Bruno Mars thinks she need to do this to stay relevant. It just makes him look like a total arsehole.

Roxieandthegang · 28/01/2025 00:04

@CoffeeGood thank you for saying what I was trying to say ❤️

I pretty much also listen to those albums plus 1989 on constant rotation too, our three-week old has also listened to pretty much nothing else than Taylor since she was in the womb and was born to the strains of Evermore so hoping she'll grow up a Swiftie! I think Taylor's the greatest lyricist in pop music history, a true poet. She does discuss adult relationships in her songs, which is absolutely fine for a thirty-five year-old woman to do, but she does it in a subtle and classy way, nothing graphic or distasteful. Even Guilty As Sin from TTPD, which may be her most overtly sexual song, is far from explicit.

RocketNan · 28/01/2025 01:17

What a load of weird shit. No thanks Bruno. I’ll stick to a mug of Ovaltine and scrolling Mumsnet.

heyhopotato · 28/01/2025 01:40

BatchCookBabe · 27/01/2025 21:12

@heyhopotato Eminem never released ANYTHING like this. Bruno's song is really vile and sexually graphic and demeaning to women.

I can think of plenty of Eminem songs that are that too.

Aquestionneeded · 28/01/2025 02:36

I am a firm believer with age appropriate films and games depending on the child (internet use being mostly patrolled). I have relaxed that recently and reaping the rewards of watching the marvel timeline with them. Spotify, I did allow explicit usage because let's face it most 11 year olds have heard the odd f word!! This is off the scale sexualised! I will now have to work out how to hide this song. Bruno you've let me down massively.

ImustLearn2Cook · 28/01/2025 03:03

CoffeeGood · 27/01/2025 21:20

It is EVERYONE'S responsibility to protect children from porn. Don't YOU think so? If you don't think that "Milk mustache on your face when I cum", "slob on my clit", "Titties on your forehead, titties on your chin", "pussy drip like gold", "Squirt in your mouth, squirt on your bed", "Coochie water autograph" is porn language, then there is something seriously wrong with your mentality. I'm 52, led quite the opposite of a sheltered life and I don't want to hear that stuff. I certainly don't want any child (or my granny!) to have to listen to such utter, degrading language.

Music artists who are being paid by and who usually aim music at kids / teens, (young adults even) definitely have a duty of responsibility to those same kids to make sure they are not exposed to such degrading language for a woman's body.

@CoffeeGood Thank-you and well said. 💖

bpirockin · 28/01/2025 04:15

I hate that sort of stuff. I'm very open and not prudish at all, but I really don't like things like that shoved in your face at any given time, posters for some recent perfumes, with names I don't want to have to explain to or hear from children who really don't need to know words like that. It seems to me that it's attention-seeking by way of shock value, but it's vile and unnecessary. Time and place, for some perhaps, but it's a big fat NO from me.

Floppyelf · 28/01/2025 05:46

greengreyblue · 27/01/2025 20:47

I don’t think it’s about enjoyment, it’s a brag about how wet her vagina is.

See that comes off as though you’re jealous that you can’t get a wet vagina. Isn’t the whole point of feminism that women in this case sexy red or whatever can commoditise her sexuality to gain income? Its different when page 3 existed…. Because somehow that was seen as okay? Underage girls blaring out their tits for husbands/ fathers/grandfathers of mumsnet users to perve over. Where was your drive to keep society clean and make your men better? Its a generic song, it won’t be the last. If you’re worried about your children, pull your finger out of your arse and parent and safeguard kids. You brought them into the world.

YorhshireTeaIsBest · 28/01/2025 05:55

If I put a filter on my Spotify, does that work for the whole family?
