Slapping a child

Dalemp · 26/01/2025 11:27

12 year old boy purposely sticking his leg to trip up an adult. There are no SEN issues; he is doing it for kicks.

The woman in question didn’t fall, and managed to regain her balance, otherwise she would have crashed into a brick wall.

There was no violence but she was going to hit the child but managed to regain her composure. I am not so sure I could have.

Violence is never the answer. By slapping him, you would be teaching him it's OK to hit if you're bigger than the other person.

This does not mean that you can't come down like a tonne of bricks in other ways.

He may be a little shit, but you still don’t hit children.

RIPVPROG · 26/01/2025 11:28

You can't hit a child, it's that simple

Overthebow · 26/01/2025 11:30

Hitting a child is never ok. Give him consequences without using violence.

HPandthelastwish · 26/01/2025 11:30

Not ok unless the child was choking.
Was it purposeful or an instinctive reaction?

NormasArse · 26/01/2025 11:32

Would you slap an adult in the same circumstance?

Would you slap an adult in the same circumstance?
