Sure this is about the 95th million thread on this subject but, went into Boots today and it was £8 for a bottle of L’Oreal Elvive.

£7 for a medium sized box of Lindt Balls in WR.

WTAF?!

I know. Its mad.

LadyKenya · 25/01/2025 12:25

Prices are increasing no doubt, and more people are having to be more considered in what they are buying.

Augustus40 · 25/01/2025 12:27

To to your local pound shops for these items.

KhakiOrca · 25/01/2025 12:28

Big bag of mini eggs in Morrisons FIFTEEN QUID!!!!!
The price of chocolate is through the roof!

midgetastic · 25/01/2025 12:29

I do hope that you understand the link between climate change and rising costs

Housebuy1 · 25/01/2025 12:30

Your first mistake was going to boots to be fair…

westisbest1982 · 25/01/2025 12:31

Boots and Waitrose selling branded items at inflated prices? Well I never!

Elizo · 25/01/2025 12:32

It’s absolutely insane. You can’t move an
inch

mitogoshigg · 25/01/2025 12:33

Shop around or just head to Aldi for their knock offs

Goldenmemories · 25/01/2025 12:34

Just get unbranded stuff. Shampoo goes down the drain, what's the point in spending more than £1 a bottle?

iamnotalemon · 25/01/2025 12:38

I'd say if you are shopping in boots and waitrose, there's your problem. They are not exactly the cheapest shops.

Englishrosegarden · 25/01/2025 12:38

The price of chocolate is going to go up further. I am a chocolatier and the wholesale price has more than trebled in the last 2 years due to climate change causing poor harvests and transport costs rising massively since covid.
Most of the big boys buy their raw ingredients years ahead so they have been able to absorb the price rises but they are now starting to bite and will get worse as the latest harvest was also very poor.

adminicle · 25/01/2025 12:39

I tend to wait for three-for-two offers on hair products these days. I get some things from TK Maxx as they do giant bottles for about £7. I'm in a using up old hair products phase at the moment to save money.

\I agree, and it's not even very nice chocolate since they changed the production site.

Yep or even a Savers.

Shityshitybangbang · 25/01/2025 12:41

The mini eggs have definitely went up in price.

Augustus40 · 25/01/2025 12:49

Yes Savers is ace too.

Deannaaa · 25/01/2025 12:52

Home Bargains might be worth a visit.

This is what people should be doing anyway, instead of just buying more, and more.

@KhakiOrca

And I bet people will pay that, which is why they price things that way.

Google why. It's nothing to do with the cost of living.

Yes - I have thinning, greying, menopausal hair and am a bit of a sucker for the next 'miracle' product but every so often I say 'enough is enough' and line all my half-used hair products up in the bathroom and make myself use them before buying anything else.

Orangesandlemons77 · 25/01/2025 13:14

I tend to buy things on Amazon in bulk as cheaper

I disagree. my thinner than before hair has really benefited from a thickening Kerastese at £25 per bottle

Aargh, I need to leave the thread if people are going to start recommending hair products, or else my no-buy resolution will go out of the window😆
