Two of the top six stories on the BBC news website are about Traitors.

🤦🏻‍♀️

Disclaimer - I don't watch it, but presumably those who do will have either seen it last night or be avoiding spoilers!!

Traitors on BBC News - really?

OP seems to want doom and gloom in the news at all times. How dare they write articles about a very popular BBC show

mum2jakie · 25/01/2025 10:56

I've never watched any of the Traitors before but caught the penultimate episode and found it really compelling! I've just watched the final.

It's not really 'news' as such but it is a popular BBC programme and there are a lot of items making the headlines that I have no interest in either.

Yes i would like actual news too. The lightheared part of the news shouldn't be the bbc self promotion section.

This is on the front page, not the culture section.

It is in the culture section. On the front page, yes but near the bottom underneath more important news.

I had notifications from the BBC news app that came with live updates. I like the Traitors but thought they were making too big a deal of it. If it was on itv or channel 4 it wouldn't have got that attention so they are self promoting. A news article under culture is expected though.

They reported on X Factor winner in its heyday why wouldn’t they report on this?

Thank you!

If it's on the BBC website, then it's annoying but no more. I just wouldn't read it as I've never seen the programme, and gave no interest.

If it's actually on the BVC TV news, then this is the reason that I stopped watching television news (at the start of the pandemic). It's incredibly dumbed down - like a 'tabloid' newspaper, if you will. It's also very reliant on emotions, rather than straight facts. And there's way too much asking the public for their views on something - how is that news?
I read two 'broadsheet' newspapers every day, and listen to Radio 4 news, so I feel that I'm as well-informed as those who rely on TV news (if not more so!).

BBC news had Stormzy's driving ban on main news. Why?
