The KKK is feeling pretty empowered

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 22/01/2025 17:23

This is what happens when a man like Donald Trump gets in power.

These are the people who feel empowered.

While MN celebrates the " only two genders ", people of colour in Kentucky are scared.

I've seen threads on here wishing the UK had Trump. Is this really what you want?

Is this really the type of people you want in power?

Those that voted for Trump over trans issues, what about shit like this? Or women dying from lack of abortion access? Or climate change? Or the casual revisiting of gay marriage rights?

According to GLAAD all resources referencing LGBTQ and HIV have been removed from the White House website. Gay, lesbian, no results come up in the search.

" Pages removed include WhiteHouse.gov’s equity report (no longer accessible), a fact sheet with information on expanding access to HIV prevention and treatment (no longer accessible), and information about LGBTQ Pride Month (no longer accessible). Agency page removals include Department of State’s LGBTQ rights (no longer accessible), and Department of Labor’s LGBTQ workers page (no longer accessible). "

This is scary shit. I don't get how any one envies?

KKK distributes flyers in Kentucky telling immigrants to ‘leave now’

Documents, including phone number and invitation to ‘join us’, distributed same day Trump took office

A fangirl is a woman/girl who is a fan of something. If I described a Batman fangirl, a Graphic novel fangirl or a jazz fangirl - I'm describing a woman who is enthused about something.

I've spoken to many fervent Badenoch fans who describe her in the most enthusiastic terms. I would describe them as fangirls.

You seem to be correlating this with the Taliban. Thanks for the laugh.

‘Fangirls’ is ridiculous term. Do you use it for those who go on glowingly about Starmer?

You are singling out WOMEN who support Badenoch by calling thim ‘GIRLS’, and explicitly excluding men (or boys) from your derision. The ECB and many sporting bodies have officially banned the use of ‘girls’ for the over 18 Womens’ teams precisely because it is officially considered misogynist and infantilising, especially against the fact that the Men’s teams are not called ‘boys’ teams. The BBC and Sky commentary teams have adopted this terminology accordingly.

You are being pejorative by calling them ‘fans’ because implicit with that term is a concept of fandom - the uncritical, enthusiastic admiration held for a thing or person (dictionary definition) rather than a critical support for the political ideas and policies of a party leader.

I note you haven’t referenced fanboys anywhere in your patronising and utterly tone deaf little TedTalk…

But laugh away.

What a fool cannot learn he laughs at, thinking that by his laughter he shows superiority instead of latent idiocy. Marie Corelli

I’m guessing you are a Starmer fangirl

Fine if that’s how you want to do politics.

Why normalise having to drive to another state for abortion? How s that acceptable?

It's not. I was responding to a poster who said her death was attributed to going to another state. It wasn't. I was stating that she died from sepsis brought on by sepsis.

Am not a Badenoch supporter at all, nor a Tory supporter. I am capable of critical thought though. Unlike some starmer ‘fangirls’.

Additionally, in case it makes the slightest bit of difference, my grandfather was born in the hills of Afghanistan and was 2nd secretary in the Iranian embassy when he became a political asyllee (along with my 7 aunts and uncles and my dad) in the late 70s. He and his family would have faced imprisonment and, potentially, death had he returned to Khomeini’s Iran, so forgive me if I think I know more about the atrocities of the Taliban than most. My family sought leave to remain here, and avoid returning to Iran, largely to ensure my aunts were able to access an education and live free lives in the UK. I’d recommend reading Persepolis by Marjan Satrapi if you have any REAL interest in the background to the lives there and the way women’s rights were so perniciously eroded by little slights of language, amongst other things.

If you have an ounce of decency, I’d appreciate an apology for your blatantly offensive and insensitive comment and the total lack of understanding how the erosion of women’s rights begins with pejorative and misogynist language like ‘fangirls’.

You're not getting an apology because I said the word fangirl. All the best.

And you do not solve that, by telling people that they are stupid bigots whose opinions won't be listened to. You don't solve bigotry by hectoring bigots about how they're stupid.

This is the problem. You have posted educated and well positioned posts, but I'm afraid you're wasting your time with some people. The left thinking will never agree with anything you say, probably don't read most of your post. Theyve decided to stick with the lazy arguement that anyone who doesnt agree with them are bigots. And are so arrogant to think they are right whilst the majority of Americans voted Trump in, therefore implying most Americans are bigots and stupid. The lefties just dont get it, and will never get it...

No decency. Noted.

And clearly really don’t actually give a shit about the actual women of Afganistan as you’re just a Labour supporting keyboard warrior wanting to score points and not engage in good faith at all. Easy to pay lip service to the welfare of oppressed women when you have to sacrifice nothing in return.

All the best.

And ultimately, they will suffer because of it as this is no way to win hearts and minds.

I hope the Democrat party will learn from this. Though all signs so far point to them doubling down.

No uterus, no valid opinion. Men should have no say in reproductive rights

I object to that. I'm a woman, I've given birth to 4 children so I think that's pretty conclusive. I have no uterus, no ovaries. I am still a woman.

I know what you said and it was deeply unpleasant. If you hadn't thought it through maybe do that next time.

I know 2 friends who had breakdowns after a hysterectomy, imagine how they would feel when you confirm their feelings that they are no longer real women. I never felt that as I am intelligent and confident in my identity to still know that I am a woman.

Like the Bishop said have some compassion.

I was adjusting someone else’s post with the quote. Or did you actually think I mean to exclude those who’ve had those uteruses removed?

And stop with the ridiculous hyperbole. I never said women without uteruses are or “real women”. Nobody thinks that

Literally nobody has or will say that women who have had hysterectomies are not real women, because only women can have hysterectomies.

I don't think people understand that what's going on on the right of politics is an organised, determined, extensive, international push back against the progressivism of the past 60 years - the progressivism that has made racial, religious, disability and sex discrimination in employment and citizens rights illegal.

Yesterday Trump overturned by executive order a law passed under Lyndon B Johnson that banned discrimination in federal hiring. That law was instituted to address the problem of discriminatory and racist practices in hiring and employment in government contracting.

This is where they are in the US.

This is where we'll be in the UK if the right gets in again at the next election.

It's not just Trump. It's an international effort.

That particular piece of legislation is outdated. Employment should be based on the best candidate for the job. Not to tick an inclusion box.

username299 · 23/01/2025 09:33

You're a much, much better person than me because I do judge people on their voting choice. I judge those who vote for far right parties or for parties that have a history of discriminating against women.

Well good on you! I don't assume that just because a party is not 'far right' that all their policies are the best for female people.

Not only that, but there are political parties that are mis-categorised as 'far right' when they are not but people do like to misuse the term.

Dotjones · 23/01/2025 11:34

Having a democracy requires the acceptance that people who have different views to you will get elected and sometimes people who have radically different views to you will be in power. That includes people who support the KKK or similar groups. If enough people want to "kick immigrants out" and enough people vote for candidates that support this, then there is a chance that someone will be elected with a mandate to enact it.

Laws are not set in stone, they change. What is illegal today may become legal tomorrow, and vice-versa. We've been through an extended period of moving to the left and if we don't take enough people from the right with us, eventually there will be a snap back. That's all that's happening now.

The important thing is to remember that Trump is only in power for four years. He and his supporters can make if very unpleasant for immigrants during that time. But by January 2029 voters will have had another chance to select people whose views are closer to their own.

Imagine if Harris had been elected - lots of right-wing people would genuinely believe America and the world was coming to a very abrupt end. That's how losers think, they think their way is the only way and anything else is a disaster. It's why the rioters stormed the capitol/there was a peaceful protest about the transfer of power in 2020 (delete as appropriate to your world view).

Totally ignoring and gaslighting the general public for making reasonable requests gives rise to left or right wing groups.

We only have to look at the perfectly reasonable point made often on here about transexuals. Most normal thinking Brits do not think they should be able to decide what they identify as and access women only spaces.

Vast amounts of Brits were happy with the EU as a trading block, but didn't want open doors for migrant workers. We ended up with Brexit.

Politicians need to get out their London or Washington centric worlds and listen to the entire population.

Agree 100%

I believe there are only two sexes. I also think Trump is a hateful piece of shit who should be in jail. I don't celebrate this. I think it will further push the left towards the side of genderwooists, because a basic understanding of biology is now seen as right-wing.

Anyone who celebrates this isn't a feminist, they just know men have penises.

You’re right and (sadly) there in lies the cleverness of Trump and his approach. It’s so frustrating to see but in some ways you have to hand it to him, despite appearing to be a blithering idiot he knows what he’s doing. He’s still a complete wanker but he’s far from stupid.

LazyArsedMagician · 23/01/2025 12:01

Have you heard the phrase "even a stopped clock is right twice a day"?

That's how I feel about Trump.

I don't believe for a second he gives a shit about Women's Rights or even just women in general.
