To hate this expression/phrase

The expression/phrase in question being when people miss out the words 'to be' in a sentence after 'needs'.
'Needs done'
'Needs gone'
Why can't people speak properly?? Just say 'needs doing' or 'needs to be done' surely it's not that hard. But maybe I'm just PMT-ing....😆

Who says this? Is it a regional thing?

It’s definitely a Facebook marketplace thing. It’s the only place I’ve seen it but I see it all the time on there and it grates. YANBU OP

Oh me too! But I’ve assumed it’s regional dialect so try and ignore.

I also hate ‘I’m going gym’ without TO THE

Same speech pattern/dialect I guess.

It grates, though.

I agree, also 'needs fed' drives me mad!

I'm not sure. I see it on Facebook groups a lot and I'm in the North. I also see it on mumsnet quite a bit. It seems to be more written than spoken in my experience.

“Needs doing” is the same to me. Irish people don’t say that either. I always thought it was an English regional thing.

Yes another one! Makes me cringe

I might find it cute in a two year old but not an adult.

Ah right I'll look out for it
