So it was

Breakfast Time with Nick Ross and Selina Scott

The ‘For Schools And Colleges’ section

Pebble Mill at One

Kids’ TV programmes like King Rollo etc

Points of View with Barry Took

Obviously there were many more - I’ve just chosen a selection here.

This was just the BBC1 schedule by the way but it’s brought back a wave of nostalgia - anyone like me and would want to watch Pebble Mill at one today? AIBU??!

Pebble Mill! Although I was always a bit gutted when it came on as it was the end of my programmes.

What was the programme where the doorbell rang? I think it was the ITV equivalent of Pebble Mill? I remember watching that as a child! Happy memories, thank you!

Chersfrozenface · 21/01/2025 08:12

Pebble Mill at One was the original One Show, really.

DaDaDoDaiDa · 21/01/2025 08:12

I can spend ages looking at old Radio Times listings!

MsPug · 21/01/2025 08:14

My favourites as an adult were Kilroy silk and the time the place. I used to do my ironing to them! Wow. Ironing 😂

Where was Crown Court?

The doorbell one was House Party.

Yes. Although I thought The One Show was more like Nationwide - but maybe I’m wrong

BabCNesbitt · 21/01/2025 08:17

I wasn't born then, but my earliest tv memories were Flying Doctors and neighbours. Not watching them, but knowing that was my Mums hour of lunch time peace

CharlesPetrescu · 21/01/2025 08:27

Nice nostalgic thread OP! Ah the good old Schools and Colleges programmes we watched at school on the portable telly with shutters.

curtaintwitcher78 · 21/01/2025 09:03

Looking at the old tv schedules (ITV and Channel 4 are on the TVRDB and BBC is on the Radio Time archive) is really interesting.
If you have a memory of a particular episode of a programme, you can find out what date it was broadcast. If you have a specific date in mind, like your 5th birthday, you can see what you watched that day.
It was probably Batfink.

The Time, The Place! Used to watch that as a student (in bed). Loved it.
