To not go to fitness class when coach has sick kid and has spent hours cleaning it up...

Would you go to a class if you knew the coach was nursing a sick (vomit) child at home?
I don't know if I'm being OTT or whether (since I don't have to go) I should just miss it.

You really are looking for any excuse to stay in and watch tv and eat a takeaway aren’t you? 😆

Rickrolypoly · 20/01/2025 16:03

Is it a class or a one on one?

TheChosenTwo · 20/01/2025 16:03

I’d still go but I’m pretty immune to bugs like that.

minipie · 20/01/2025 16:04

Would you be expecting a refund?

mindutopia · 20/01/2025 16:05

Totally depends on the fitness class. Spinning or yoga where we all keep to ourselves, yes. Water aerobics or swing dancing where there is more contact or mixing of fluids, I might give it a miss.

That said, I’ve quite often cleaned up kid vomit and not gotten ill myself even with very high levels of contact, so risk is overall low.

Absolutely not! If I don't go to the class I will go for a run.

It's circuits. Coach will demo with apparatus which we will then use.

Sure you will 😆

oakleaffy · 20/01/2025 16:07

I’d not go, but I detest vomiting -some people don’t mind as much as others.

You not being one of them on the basis of this thread!

soupfiend · 20/01/2025 16:18

How do you think you're going to catch something from an instructor running the class?

No. I'm wondering whether to bin off a class which might put me at risk of getting a bug, and do something else instead.
Would you like me to show you my Strava activities for the past week?

Handling weights etc that the coach has touched.

Sounds like a threat! 😆

denhaag · 20/01/2025 16:21

I know the risk is small, but it's not one I need to take and you know when something's got into your head...it becomes A Thing.

Honestly I think you are being very OTT unless you/someone close to you is extremely vulnerable.

Not at all. You seem determined to think me wondering about not going to a class where I might catch a bug means I don't enjoy exercise.

That's what I'm wondering, hence why I'm asking.

its either that logic

or

You have a serious health anxiety that blinds you to sense

TwoHoots74 · 20/01/2025 16:24

I probably wouldn't tbh. Aren't vomiting bugs airborne? I say that as someone currently in bed with norovirus.

Theweekjr · 20/01/2025 16:25

I went to work today
my dd was up half the night being sick
I didn’t tell my colleagues. Why would I?
And if you had been one of my colleagues, and I’d told you this - would you have refused to come In?

corvidconvo · 20/01/2025 16:26

I'd just go for a walk or something instead and skip the chance to catch a bug. But then again, I haven't vomited in probably 30 years or more, and I'd like to keep that streak going for as long as possible...
