This is probably the wrong place to go for reassurance idk haha.

My 18 month old has recently been very very poorly, huge fever, literally too weak to toddle and very sad.

It’s been about a week of this and we ended up spending a large part of the day watching TV, probably about 4 or 5 hours. Maybe more on some days!

Now she’s better she’s still asking for TV a lot and I am trying to distract her and interest her in other things but we’re still looking at 2-3 hours.

How much am I screwing up my kid??

She usually watches Sesame Street and Ms Rachel.

Shes been poorly it’s fine what else was she going to do! but maybe now try and reduce to an hour?

It’s fine for a short time. My son is nearly 2, I’m 10 weeks pregnant and have felt rough since Christmas so he’s been watching more tv than I would like. It’s only temporary so won’t do lasting damage I shouldn’t think. Can you set boundaries with it - so when you put it on say we’ll watch 2 episodes and then we will play with your shape sorter, or go outside etc. Then you’re setting an expectation before you start and you have to stick to it, which will help reduce how much she’s watching.

I don’t think she will understand that, she’s not quite grasped time in that way yet. But I can make the boundaries with myself!
