Terrified to get a spinal block

I have to have a small procedure that needs a spinal block (or general but the thought of being sleep terrifies me even more). I’m so anxious about it. Has anyone had this done and can re assure me a bit?

Had one and was honestly absolutely fine. The doctors are so helpful and reassuring and it was all over really quickly. Hope you’re ok!

Had one for an emergency c section and it was great. Much better than being put to sleep.

Had one, whilst I had a ruptured Achilles tendon repaired, laid on front whilst they did their work. Read my kindle. Honestly, it was a breeze!

Had one for my c-section and didn't even notice them doing it apart from the cold spray they used first

Had one for a C section and it was great. Meant I had pain control for longer afterwards and it was way better for me than a general, which I react badly to.

As I was conscious throughout I felt way more control. I could talk to the anaesthetist the whole way through, as she was by my head.

If I ever have to have an op again I’m keeping everything crossed I can have a spinal for it.

Try not to worry and see kf you can speak to the anaesthetist beforehand to go over any concerns and put your mind at rest.

Same. You need to take it easy for a bit afterwards.

I have had a general anaesthetic , epidural and also spinal block.

If I had to choose the spinal block was most effective with no after effects.

The spinal block meant I was totally awake and the consultant showed me on the screen what he was doing and why. He explained that one part of the procedure would give a better long term outcome but short term problems. I could then agree to this and was glad to be included in the decision.
