All inclusive hotel in Spain.

Fancy dress competitions for kids and kids club for general ents etc discos

Some of the male hotel guests putting on drag acts as evening entertainment

Two pools - one indoor / one outdoor

Sharing a dinner table with another guest couple at the hotel

Space invader machines /Pac Man etc

Pool table

VERY predominantly British guests

Hotel is right next to a beach

Plenty of cafes and bowling alleys near by for entertainment

Nice ‘bar’ area where you can also get drinks like milk shakes etc

Courier service so you have the option to go on day trips etc

Hotel guests in general are a bit ‘Phoenix Nights’ iyswim

So, what’s the verdict ?? Y Viva Espana?

What does it matter what other people think?

You had a holiday that was what you wanted, which is what matters. People like different things.

Weepixie · 18/01/2025 18:50

It’s not my type of holiday at all as a solo traveller but if I was going on a holiday like this with my children and grandchildren I’d be first in the queue for the plane. I suspect we wouldn’t do AI though. I’d be scared we got sick and we like food too much to not have a choice in what we’d eat at meal times. We’d much rather go out for meals and try genuine local food.

Im not sure about the drag acts either but you wouldn’t be forced to stay in the hotel complex 24 hours a day. You could come and go as you pls.

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/01/2025 18:51

I'd sooner clean the toilets at Waterloo Station than go on that holiday.

That sounds like hell on earth.

Apart from the drag acts which I wouldn't choose and the having to share a table with other people (but why would you have to?) it sounds enjoyable

But I don't know what you mean you say 'it's a bit phoenix nights'

Phoenix Nights was a Peter Kay sitcom from the early 2000s which focused on life in a Northern working men’s club

purpleme12 · 18/01/2025 18:53

I know what it is I just didn't watch it so didn't know what you meant when you said 'it's a bit phoenix nights'

CryJustALittleBit · 18/01/2025 18:55

CarolNoE · 18/01/2025 18:39

Is Tim Healy, the actor, on holiday? Sounds like an episode of Benidorm lol

Grin no - but wouldn’t look out of place to be fair! Was expecting him to turn up any second !!

I would absolutely hate it.My idea of Hell
In fact I would sleep in the hotel and spend all my time elsewhere if I found myself there.
Other people might love it though

chelseahealyslips · 18/01/2025 18:56

Absolutely no

edwinbear · 18/01/2025 18:56

I wouldn’t enjoy it at all, neither would DC. DH would refuse to go - but people enjoy different holidays. As long as you had a great time!

Cynic17 · 18/01/2025 18:57

I would absolutely loathe it, tbh, but each to their own.

NettleTea · 18/01/2025 18:58

Im afraid that there is not one aspect of that holiday that appeals to me, and my kids hated kids clubs too.

I generally get half board - we dont drink so paying extra for AI is usually a waste, and we like to go out and explore in the daytimes, with the potential to eat back at hotel if we wish.

hate 'entertainment' and dont really like being around noisy or drunk people. And despise drag. So really not my cup of tea at all.

Weepixie · 18/01/2025 18:58

Phoenix Nights was a Peter Kay sitcom from the early 2000s which focused on life in a Northern working men’s club

Ive come a long way in life since nights out at the rugby club or the working man’s club but I’d go again in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose.

Honestly Op, your holiday sounds very real and good fun. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I think we had to share a table with another couple ‘cos of the logistics of the various ‘sittings’ for evening dinner at the hotel restaurants iiyswim

When I said ‘it’s a bit Phoenix Nights’ the type of people there are like the types portrayed on Phoenix Nights

TheChosenTwo · 18/01/2025 18:59

Parts of it would be okay, like being on the beach, pool table for ds, indoor and outdoor swimming options in case someone needed to be out of the sun for a bit.
But it doesn’t sound like a holiday we would enjoy as a family so it would be a no from me personally.
we've never fancied all inclusives as family holidays, the entertainment is always always dire. Dh and I have done a couple without the dc and treat the hotel as a base. Escape in the evenings to other bars/restaurants where there’s no entertainment 😂
we went to one in October which was incredible if you wanted to join in with activities, the place was massive though with multiple pools, we just stayed at the adults pool with no one encouraging you to sign up for x,y,z. If we’re having a pool day we just want to lay down and read, swim, eat, have a beer, relax. Neither of us are ‘joiners’.

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/01/2025 18:59

Why why why oh WHY have two posters on this thread quoted the entire OP before adding their answer? It just isn't necessary and clogs up the pages and makes the thread too long and scrolly. Please don't do it Smile!

Ultra75 · 18/01/2025 18:59

Nope, sounds like absolute hell. I mean I knew it was a no as soon as I read "all inclusive hotel"
Spain is a 500,000 sq kms and choosing to spend my time in a 1 km square sounds more like prison to me.

Whaleandsnail6 · 18/01/2025 18:59

I would enjoy it.

Ellmau · 18/01/2025 18:59

I'd like the pools (if not too busy/rowdy) and possibly the day trips, but not the rest. Oh, the bar sounds OK. But we all have different tastes, so I'm glad you had a great time, OP.

RunnerDown · 18/01/2025 18:59

Sounds like my worst nightmare. But then lots of folks would find my ideal holiday a bit boring

OnePeppyDenimHelper · 18/01/2025 19:00

Obvs not, is this a joke post

Magamaga · 18/01/2025 19:00

Sounds awful and I like child orientated AL. Why do you ask OP?

Redcandlescandal · 18/01/2025 19:01

Sorry no it would be my idea of hell.

However, that kind of holiday is still very popular so you absolutely aren’t alone in enjoying it OP.

Growlybear83 · 18/01/2025 19:01

I'm afraid it would be my idea if he'll - I'd rather spend a couple of weeks in Belmarsh 😆

arcticpandas · 18/01/2025 19:03

CryJustALittleBit · 18/01/2025 18:48

Asking because it was the best holiday I ever went on and I just wanted other people’s opinions

Then why do you care what other people think? I wouldn't like it but I'm antisocial and like calm settings. DH and one of my children would love it. We're all different and like different things.
