All inclusive hotel in Spain.

Fancy dress competitions for kids and kids club for general ents etc discos

Some of the male hotel guests putting on drag acts as evening entertainment

Two pools - one indoor / one outdoor

Sharing a dinner table with another guest couple at the hotel

Space invader machines /Pac Man etc

Pool table

VERY predominantly British guests

Hotel is right next to a beach

Plenty of cafes and bowling alleys near by for entertainment

Nice ‘bar’ area where you can also get drinks like milk shakes etc

Courier service so you have the option to go on day trips etc

Hotel guests in general are a bit ‘Phoenix Nights’ iyswim

So, what’s the verdict ?? Y Viva Espana?

I went on one of those with one of my daughters and her family in the South of France. We had two house/caravan things and apart from it being a bit hot it was lovely,

My dad flew into joins us from Wales and when he turned up he was looking very dapper, very much like the man from Delmonte even down to his straw hat. We had such a laugh when one of the children said Daddo why are you dressed like that and he said - I thought I was coming to a Chateau

Ah, I'm guessing your campsite was in the grounds of a chateau - we did some of those 'Castell Camping' sites. We always booked ones with a pool, bike hire and restaurant. The South of France was too hot for us so we tended to camp around the Loire Valley or down to the Dordogne (which was also too hot at times!).

It wouldn’t be my first choice of holiday.

I’m a little intrigued by the drag show put on by guests though. How do they reliably get enough guests who are willing (and capable of) putting on a drag show?!

WilfredsPies · 18/01/2025 19:38

If I could design my perfect holiday from scratch, it probably wouldn’t be that. But if I went, I’m sure it would be fine. We’d pick and choose the bits we liked and go for a wander to find other places for the bits we didn’t like.

To be honest, all I really care about is that it’s clean with no bed bugs or any other types of bugs that will bite me or hitch a lift home in my luggage, and that I don’t have to climb or trek or cycle anywhere. If that’s ok, everything else will work itself out and we’ll always find something we’ll enjoy, even if it’s getting on a bus and getting out of the area.

Fetburzswefg · 18/01/2025 19:39

All inclusive hotels with kids are my idea of absolute misery, so this one wouldn’t be for me.

Lighteningstrikes · 18/01/2025 19:40

Some male guests dressing up in drag would put me right off, especially with kids around.

Apart from that sounds like a great family holiday with lots to do.

lifeonmars100 · 18/01/2025 19:40

no shopping, no cooking, no cleaning, a beach, cafes and a pool, I would take some books, read, relax and opt out of the stuff that didn't appeal to me. I think I would cope!

Ineedaholidayyyy · 18/01/2025 19:40

We like AI whilst our child is young, we just find it easier. I'm picky about where we go though, for example I would hate some of the Carribean islands where its unsafe to go out of your hotel grounds, so we would never pick an AI like that.

Whilst we like AI for the simplicity , we still like to go out and explore the area , go out for a few meals and do day trips, so we would also pick a place where we could head into a resort.

So I guess what you describe we would be probably be fine with , however we wouldn't want to share a table with other guests, was that was enforced?. Drag entertainment is also not our thing, but we would just head into the resort if we didn't like what entertainment was on offer.

mindutopia · 18/01/2025 19:41

I’d be into the drag performances, but the rest sounds shite. Probably why I’ve never been on a package holiday.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 18/01/2025 19:41

Hotel guests in general are a bit ‘Phoenix Nights’ iyswim

Funny, warm, friendly, welcoming, down to earth?

Lookingatthesunset · 18/01/2025 19:41

My idea of hell!!!

Broadband · 18/01/2025 19:44

I would hate it as far too many people/kids for my taste. But if you loved it then great. Wouldn’t do for us all to like the same thing.

Echobelly · 18/01/2025 19:45

Pretty much my idea of holiday hell, but each to their own!

Differentstarts · 18/01/2025 19:45

It wouldn't be my first choice but I wouldn't hate it

CeeJay81 · 18/01/2025 19:45

I've never been to an All inclusive hotel where you had to share a table at dinner. Is that really a thing? Surely they can't make you do that? What if you got put with someone who gave you the creeps or made you feel uncomfortable. No thanks.

I think it was very much an unplanned, impromptu thing tbh

We did it and didn’t question it.

but then the couple we shared with were very ‘Phoenix Nights’ . I am very Phoenix Nights.

So it’s cool.

As a PP said it sounds like the TV show Benidorm. TBH, for a family with young children this would be great.

I’ve done the fancy Lapland, Disney, Italian lakes holidays but also had a Benidorm holiday (not AI though) and enjoyed them all equally but differently.

I think there is quite a snobbish attitude towards the OP’s holiday that I find distasteful.

AgnesX · 18/01/2025 19:49

Not my cup of tea but I don't have that age children and can live without beans and Richmond sausages for a few weeks.

I do understand why people want Blackpool-on-Sol though and think if possible they should have their choice.

In the near future it's not going to be cheap and cheerful though.

Yes. Exactly that

Honestly for me depends on the people there. Not my cup of tea personally (I prefer a quieter holiday), but that doesn't mean it will be bad! You could literally be on an exclusive holiday to the moon and it would be shit if the people you went with weren't very nice. The important thing is that everyone is trying to be nice to each other and get on.

Onecanonlyhopeitwillhappensoon · 18/01/2025 19:52

I'm afraid I would not enjoy such a holiday.
I'm sure there are a lot of people that would but since you asked, count me out.

Yes I guess the shared tables were to do with the sittings for the hotel dinner

We have a saying "its a bit Brits abroad" and this is the perfect example of it. Its not my idea of a good time but I am sure others love it.

TwistedWonder · 18/01/2025 19:54

Other than having h pools and being near the beach, it sounds like my idea of the holiday from hell but I’m sure it’s a great holiday for many families.

We pay our money we make our choice
