Are there fewer job vacancies these days?

I’ve been job hunting recently and it feels like there are far fewer opportunities out there compared to even a year ago. Roles I’m interested in either seem to be snapped up really quickly or don’t exist anymore.

Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe its just my field or are there generally fewer vacancies across the board? Do you think the job market has become tougher recently, and if so, why? Or is this just a phase, and things will pick up again soon?

Its probably to do with double whammy of the raising National minimum wage and employer increase in NI.

Very much depends on your field and where you are in the country. Countless jobs come up at my grade in London every day. In South West, about half a dozen a month on a good month.
