Can’t do my job anymore I need to leave don’t I?

I had a breakdown in November and went off sick with depression/stress. I came back to work for 2 weeks and went off again. I’m now back properly and on medication. But I just can’t do my job. I’m still depressed and still anxious and have absolutely no interest. It’s not fair on the service because they are not getting the support they need.

Any ideas on what I should do? I have thought about just leaving. Means we will be on a strict budget until I find something part time to cover bills.

Apply for a job right now that you feel you are well enough to do. Then when you get it, give notice on the other job.
You can apply for different jobs on sick leave if needed and then be up front and say when you're able to start from.

Did you take long enough off sick? November is not long ago, and if you've just started medication it can take a few weeks or months to 'work', and even then you might need to trial higher doses or a different tablet. I'm so sorry you're struggling, but it's actually really nice to see someone consider the impact on their work and colleagues. I'm sure you'd be a loss to the team, so if you can take some more time to get yourself better, you should. Don't just quit.

Before leaving, you need to have a workplace assessment. You have a health condition and a history of failed return to work. Your employer needs to consider reasonable adjustments. I would also take a look at whether there is a Work Well project funded in your area. They help people who have health conditions and are at risk of losing their jobs. They can provide workplace coaching, negotiating reasonable adjustments etc. They are also linked with Access to Work scheme.

There isn’t many jobs where I live I currently work in HR. But I am quite happy to just take a little job in a shop but there’s nothing at the moment.

Im thinking whether to just go off sick again and hand my notice in? I have about 2 months half pay left.
