On the back of the other thread, clearly!

Mine:

Terrible management
Boring work
The actual takes are mostly futile

OP posts:
ProjectsGalore · 16/01/2025 17:42

Ridiculous and complex risks
Ludicrous hours for no extra pay
Toxic manager

spiderlight · 16/01/2025 17:43

The work, which is both difficult and tedious most of the time.
The pay.
The uncertainty of self-employment.

Unfortunately I can't quit because I would never find anything else I could physically do from home with the flexibility to fit around my shite health.

SomethingFun · 16/01/2025 18:02

Colleagues who do fuck all and when they occasionally produce 5 mins of work, we’re all meant to be supportive and clap and cheer because they got off their arse like one time. They do not clap and cheer for you continually getting off your arse but if you stop they give you no end of shit for it.

The work is hard but also boring and pointless. So much effort goes into hardly noticeable outcomes that no one really cares about. Expressing this is career suicide.

Having absolutely no say in anything but being in a role which is a catch all role so you end up doing your job and some/ all of the work of other roles around you for no thanks or recognition.

Lulu1919 · 16/01/2025 18:05

The pay
The pay
The pay

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 16/01/2025 18:40

If I got called back into the office.
Slooooooooow progress (a meeting was cancelled before I gave birth and still hasn't been rearranged - my son is 15m old).
I'm only on a fixed term contract, so would jump ship for a permanent role.

I actually love working there though. It's super flexible, and zero stress. For me, not for other people. There was a catty email chain ten messages long going off in my inbox yesterday, which was very funny to watch from the sidelines.

EBearhug · 16/01/2025 18:45

I'm only a month and a half into this one, but the previous one was:

  • micromanaging team lead (particularly challenging in a small team, as there was no diluting it.)
  • low salary
  • nowhere to progress to

Everyone else thinks it's because it was an hour away, but I only had to be in the office once a week, and I mostly didn't mind that at all, as it was a lovely site and near the sea.

New job is fewer hours, 2 miles from home, substantially higher salary, plus a much larger company, so more chances to move on internally. The bickering middle-aged men bit tiresome at times, but I also saw an apology today, so I think it'll be okay.

loveyoutothemoonandtosaturn · 16/01/2025 19:05

Micromanaging
Being forced to return to the office when I'm definitely more productive at home.
Having to make small talk with colleagues when I could be at home working in peace.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 16/01/2025 19:07
  • My age (61). I've worked full time since I was 18 and I'm done now.
  • Inability to go part time.
  • Annual leave allowance isn't bad but now I want MORE!

The last point could be solved if the second point could be solved. I do actually enjoy my job and my colleagues are brilliant.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 16/01/2025 19:07

I have quit, currently in my notice period

issues:

overwork caused by understaffing (which I know I am contributing to)
social isolation as a remote worker
ineffectual management

Justcashnosweets · 16/01/2025 19:08

The toxic pettiness of my team.
Boredom
Lack of autonomy.

Althenameshavegone · 16/01/2025 19:08

Stress of the job itself
workload
desire to do my own thing instead

Mumlaplomb · 16/01/2025 19:17

Manager who can be moody and a mood hoover/snappy.
The commute on mandatory office days where I sit on teams calls all day rather than mixing with my team.
Also office is often too cold for me.

brassandswitch · 16/01/2025 19:23

Having to travel 6 times a year a week at a time, spending 14 hours on my feet dealing with clients, working with an absolute cunt of a bully whom I've reported so many times yet I still have to work with them and the fact the job is so boring.

AuraBora · 16/01/2025 19:25

Lack of pay rise.
Lack of opportunity for promotion.
AI changing the entire landscape of my industry..and not for the better.

AuraBora · 16/01/2025 19:26

But my team and manager are lovely,as are most of the company, and it's very family-friendly (apart from paying us enough!)

Nevertoocoldforicecream · 16/01/2025 19:32

Unrealistic workload
Rude, unappreciative, aggressive, entitled people
Pretty rubbish pay for the level of qualification needed.

That said I love it, it's just that if I did ever stop then those would be the reasons.

CandyCane457 · 16/01/2025 19:42

I’m a primary school teacher and mine are:

1- SLT who have no trust in us, micromanage us and ultimately treat us like children.

2- Pointless admin tasks with no purpose.

3- Parents.

Elendel · 16/01/2025 19:45

Parents.

My timetable this year.

A complete and utter lack of resources for just about anything.

PermanentTemporary · 16/01/2025 19:49

My boss has been off sick for a month and I've thoroughly enjoyed work during this period.

I suspect I'm a bit of a handful to manage tbh.

These exact 3! I'm 2 weeks in and soooo bored
I've come from a company I loved and was lucky to have enjoyed all my jobs minus 1 years worth so I had no idea how horrific a boring, pointless job can be
Giving myself 12 months and a list of tasks I want to master then going to look for something else
What is more ridiculous is they are paying me a decent wage and I'm on £5k more than my last job but feel like its a huge demotion

Fizzygoo · 16/01/2025 19:55

Boring
irrelevant
meaningless

TeenLifeMum · 16/01/2025 19:56

Poor management
boring work
lack of respect/ involvement in things I could help with

BraOffPjsOn · 16/01/2025 19:57

Management
Workload
Lack of support

I’m leaving though and others are planning to by the end of the year!

BG2015 · 16/01/2025 19:58

Entitled children
Unreasonable parents
Government and public lack of support

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/01/2025 19:59

I'm a teacher and can certainly never complain about being bored.

Poor behaviour from a minority of pupils, that schools have very little control over

Poor parenting from a smaller minority of parents, often linked to number one

Feeling that I don't have much professional voice and everything is top-down: either micro-managed or ignored!
