TikTok earnings?

So I have been having a little scroll on TikTok recently and I'm surprised with how many people are have this kind of reality platform that essentially exposes their life. I personally would not do this because I'm a very private person and would also worry about any negative impact on my children.

But it had me thinking how much are these 'creaters' making per month? Does anyone know this? Apparently TikTok takes a cut but it makes me wonder what they are left with each month as many use it as a full time job.

It takes a lot of followers, and a lot of videos, to make any money!

I’m sure some do make a living out of it but I imagine there are many, many more who don’t, despite trying. Faking it in the hope of making it.

It must be a very precarious career, what it the algorithms change or the platform closes down. I once had the displeasure of spending a week with someone who was a full time influencer and it definitely didn’t seem to make her happy. She spent all her time on her laptop and her real life certainly didn’t seem as glamorous as her profile portrays.

I follow a fair few cat rescues and other small charities who are in the creator fund. One small charity reckoned they earned £20 pcm. Another, which has just joined the creator fund, just posted that they earned 1 p.

TBF some of the more established ones in the US have been able to substantially grow their work through TikTok and many more get direct donations of money/cat food etc from viewers but suspect these are a minority.

Apparently snap pays better.

They get very little from actual TikTok - the main money to be made is in brand deals/affiliate marketing. It entirely depends on how much you're engaging/how many videos you're making, and how lucrative your audience is.
