to be fed up of overtime at work

I work in retail (part time) and I am constantly asked to work overtime at work as we are constantly short staffed. I have explained to my manager that I don't want any overtime I am happy with the hours I work. Tonight a WhatsApp message has been sent to the team stating that we all need to stay after work tomorrow to catch up with the work we are behind on.
AIBU to think this is rude of my manager?

How many hours are you contacted to work and what does your contact say about overtime?

How long have you worked there ?
Will it take you over your contracted weekly hours or is it instead of ?

20 hours contract states something along the lines of overtime may be required to meet business needs but we are constantly short staffed so overtime is needed all the time.
I reduced my hours a few years ago due to health reasons so I don’t really want to be doing overtime.

They cannot force you to work the overtime. Surely someone on the team is happy to lap up extra pay!!

PlumFairies · 14/01/2025 21:41

What are they expecting you to do?

It's like being offered drugs - just say no.

Work to live, don't live to work.

Tell them to stuff it, I am in retail too so know similar. I never take on overtime.
