to be "coffee badging" when I'm working from home

Just read something on social about the 'new' trend of coffee badging - where you go into the office, grab a coffee, get seen by your boss and then leave to work from home - but ...loads of people log on to their work computer when they're WFH, fire off an email, go to one teams meeting, then leave and put the washing on, etc...during work hours. It's basically coffee badging from home??? Personally, my number one job that I get done when I WFH is the washing (would be higher than bunkbeds if I went into the office). I do get my paid work done. But AIBU to do life/home stuff as well, am I coffee badging from home?

So glad I don't work any more, this modern world of work is not for me.

Ach @Thegoatliesdownonbroadway you’d be fine. The trick is to not believe the gubbins written in places like this.

PickAChew · 15/01/2025 23:15

Maybe just do the job you're paid for rather than tie yourself in knots about how to get away with not doing it?

IT’S MADE UP. NOT TRUE. FICTION. POSTED HERE TO GET THE FROTH ALL FROTHY.

If your literally spending 10 minutes chucking the washing in the machine, that's no more time than you'd usually spend queuing for the coffee / toilet / meeting room. If it's 15 or more minutes I'd say as long as you do the hours - Im a big believer in flexible working.

Main thing is you do your job. Don't over think it. Some people won't do their job in the office or at home!

I coffee badge from home. Do my work in the mornings then tend to clock off PM and work 'light'just answering my mobile if anyone calls. DH (who's on sick leave having cancer treatment) and I tend to take the dog for a long walk. Or I catch up on my housework or even just watch daytime TV.
As long as all the targets are met the manager gives no fecks.
And why not. I'm no one's slave.
Of course I take my full time salary.
Come find me

With an attitude like that! ....

There are wfh people who appreciate it amd don't take liberties bit far more entitled ones who think they're above everyone else.

How can people be surprised to be called back to the office with such goings on.

Some managers are happy to support mediocrity as it means they don't have to come in either. Doesnt mean it's right for every business.

When the chickens come to roost and all that.

I do hybrid working and I'm guilty of doing washing, dishes etc. however I do not take lunch breaks at home or anything. At work I'm too busy yapping to people lol! Saying that my work is always done and I'm always jumping to help others with theirs. My manager doesn't give a toot she also does it and will take time out to walk her dog. She also never comes to office on time is always later because she needs to take her youngest to school but equally she's still a great manager xxx

You like your manager because she let's you get off doing bare minimum and she does it too......

Couldn't make it up! 🤦‍♀️.
