To not let my 12 year old have Snapchat?

Am I the completely unreasonable and awful parent my child is making me out to be for making her be the only child in her whole school not to have Snapchat?

Any other parents guilt of making their child miss out?

YANBU to not let your 12 year old have Snapchat. You have to be 13 to use it.

My 12 year old and 14 yr old are not allowed Snapchat or Insta.

@TaffetaRustle Snapchat is perfect for bad stuff like sexting and bullying because the messages disappear after a few seconds. It also tells the sender if your screenshot their message so the only way to save messages is something like using a second device and you have to be quick because the messages disappear after a set amount of time.
If you monitor your child’s phone usage then Snapchat will give them total privacy because you won’t know what they send or receive. I’d imagine schools and the police end up with lots of allegations about what is/isn’t said on Snapchat and with no proof, it’s hard to know what really happened.

No. My dd isn't allowed it despite ' all friends on it ' and ' I'm not a baby'
No they are not. And no

School helpfully sent out a letter warning parents / carers to avoid snao chat, insta etc. So used that too.

Now, one dc has never used sm as believes its going to be their greatest asset one day.
One dd os now very glad I said no, and interestingly says would never allow her kids if she has any to have phones. Hahaha

No phones upstairs, restricted access using custudio, no secret passwords, f2f friends, no you tube free access.
