my sister triggers severe anxiety in me. Even thinking about speaking to her feels me with dread. Shes had some mental health issues and I just don’t feel able to have a relationship with her.

Then don't.

You really don't have to have a relationship with her. Just be unavailable at any time if you're not able to have the fuck off conversation.

Set boundaries for yourself.

Feel guilty - she doesn’t have any friends

Not your problem.

Inkyblue123 · 13/01/2025 16:35

It’s hard to avoid siblings , especially if your parents are in the back ground harpi g on about her. Set some boundaries , so email contact only, or see her only twice a year- what ever works for you. And tell your family n that you don’t have the bandwidth to deal with her/ you have enough on your plate.

I agree. You need to set your own boundaries and protect yourself. You can’t save anyone or solve their problems.
