Think I’ve got the flu

And I feel horrific.
I’m got chills and agonising joint pain.
I couldn’t sleep last night because of the pain and I can’t rest today, I’m just writhing about in pain. My sinuses are all blocked and I’m coughing too.
My skin hurts. Everything hurts.
I can’t take another ibuprofen until 12pm and paracetamol until 1pm. They work to start with but wear off after about 3 hours!
My temperature is 38.5.
What can I do.?!

Just relax OP. A temp of 38.5 is nothing exciting and very normal for an illness.

Keep up the regular medication (and please do not overdose on paracetamol like a previous poster suggested! It can be toxic) Ibuprofen is different and higher doses can be taken but I wouldn't without a medical professional telling you too.

Drink plenty and sleep when you can.

I'm just getting over it. Have been ill since Christmas eve, it's shit. Turns out it ended dup in 'walking' pneumonia, antibiotics have kicked in and I'm a lot better.

The flu vaccine is only something like 30% effective this year.

I was wondering about the effectiveness of the flu jab this year; a lot of people seem to be very ill with flu. I've had the flu jab ( and Covid jab) but I'm a bit worried as I have asthma. I have the jab every year; in 2018 I was really ill, needed steroids and antibiotics, my asthma nurse said that they'd vaccinated for the wrong strains of flu for that year, could that be the case this year?!

IT is not an awful comment, its a realistic comment! This is a grown adult at home. Surely you know yourself if you feel ill or not? If she feels better but still has a temp what does that tell her?
A temperature is one, one, parameter when obs are done in hospital.

They can only guess at what strain of flu will be virulent each year.

Yeah and most of the time they get it rignt. But sometimes they guess wrong and we get swamped.

Still it shoes how effective the flu jab is when they do pick the rights ones.
