Sorry posting here for traffic 😁

Soon will be decorating our living room, it has dark drey carpets that we can't afford to change just yet. Plus it seems silly to change as it's brand new. We will be painting the walls and getting a new sofa, so just looking for inspiration on what will look like with nice with dark grey carpet 😁

A pic of yours would be a fair deal.

Pfpppl · 12/01/2025 19:38

No pic, but we have dark grey carpet, pale grey sofas and the walls are painted in dulux muted blush which is a soft pinky grey. I love it, it's very relaxing.

I’m not posting a photo of my sitting room online.

Dark brown leather doesn't work with grey if that helps. But there's nothing wrong with our furniture and new sofas are expensive!

I think you need Pinterest op!

I have dark grey carpet.

Wall are three sides terracotta and one side dark blue.

Sofa a beige colour.

Accents are gold.

RosesAndHellebores · 12/01/2025 19:47

Use rugs. Grey is over.

corvidconvo · 12/01/2025 19:48

It might help if you can identify what tone the dark grey carpet is. Most greys have a certain hue to them, bluish, greenish, etc. Warm versus cold. That will determine which colours look best against the carpet.

username299 · 12/01/2025 19:49

I have a grey carpet, blue walls, a navy sofa and a grey sofa.

Scutterbug · 12/01/2025 19:51

Wooden floor. Cream walls. Grey and black sofas, cream, mustard and grey curtains. Mustard cushions, mustard, black and grey throws. Grey and cream lightshade.

BellissimoGecko · 12/01/2025 19:55

Teal, green, orange, hot pink all go with grey.

Depending on the shade of grey then a something neutral like taupe might work although it depends on the light in the room. Our dining room has tape walls and dark, gun metal grey curtains and rug with cream-ish dining chairs and it’s looks good (at least I think so!).

You can always just get a large area rug of whatever colour you want though and then base the decor on that, and not worry too much about the actual carpet.

You go first OP

I've posted mine a few times, I decorated my living room 2yrs ago following a complete renovation. We don't have the autumn decor up anymore.

Chunky oak and mango wood furniture, lots of plants (real and fake), candles, big soft cream rug, off white and dark green walls, white wood blinds and thick beige curtains, black curtain rail.
