To take a teenager jeans shopping at Bicester village?

I’ve promised my 15 y daughter new jeans and we would usually go to Watford, but we had no success last time. The only jeans she has are from H&M so she doesn’t know what brands she likes. Friends buy from Hollister and Urban Outfitters apparently. Is Bicester worth a try or is it too ‘designer’?

Why not wait until half term and have a day in London?

kaos2 · 12/01/2025 15:49

It's way too designery now .. clothes are all high end! Any glitzy Ashford is better ! Or I'd go to selfridges !

LittleRedRidingHoody · 12/01/2025 15:50

How about Westfield? You've got a nice mix there. I'd take that over Watford any day (and I'm a local 😂)

Moveoverdarlin · 12/01/2025 15:51

It’s too high end, especially for jeans and especially for a teenager.

ApolloandDaphne · 12/01/2025 15:51

It's very designer. I'd go to normal shops with a teen.

jeaux90 · 12/01/2025 15:52

Westfield Oxford is better for Jeans.

Wowzel · 12/01/2025 15:54

I'd go to Westfield White City (massive!) Or Swindon outlet village

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 12/01/2025 15:55

Far too high end, its all Gucci etc these days.

If you are Watford based, I would maybe look at going uo to Central London, if you drive maybe look at McArthur Glen outlets. There is one in Ashford (the Kent one) but there may be one nearer.

Suzuki76 · 12/01/2025 15:57

I went recently and I can only really think of Diesel, Levi's, Calvin Klein and Polo RL - DH was looking and you're looking at minimum £80 a pair. You need a normal mall like Westfield.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 12/01/2025 16:17

@TheLittleFriend for goodness sake, ask her what kind she wants!

FoxtonFoxton · 12/01/2025 16:21

You'd be better going into Oxford if you are heading that direction. Bicester Village (as someone who lives nearby) isn't worth bothering with, especially not for teenage jeans. My teens and nieces and nephews all go to Flannels which is in Oxford and has lots of designer teen bits if she's after that. They also have an Urban in Oxford.

amoreoamicizia · 12/01/2025 16:26

Well, Bicester must have changed since I was last there, it used to be completely mundane.

Lifelover16 · 12/01/2025 16:27

Every time I’ve been to Bicester it’s been rammed with coaches full of tourists who do the tour of Oxford and then continue to Bicester. The shops are very high end and largely full of last season’s rejects, or very odd sizes. I’ve had one or two garments over the years but nothing much.
For a teenager shopping for jeans I agree Westfield offers more choice.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/01/2025 16:28

I went over and was really disappointed that it was all designer stuff. I thought it would be more Cheshire Oakes level.

ThisDangDeer · 12/01/2025 16:29

She wants Pull and Bear and Bershka for jeans. Can’t fault them.

Rainbowshine · 12/01/2025 16:30

Unless you want a bright lime green dress with weird metal trims in an XXXS from some designer shop or an overpriced candle or bag, avoid Bicester Village.

Glittertwins · 12/01/2025 16:34

My parents went relatively recently and kept getting barged out of the way by tourists. Even the sales assistants were ignoring them as they clearly weren't tourists.
Brent Cross has the free parking over Watford (I have a hatred of their car parking and ring road) but no Hollister there.
I'd get the train from Watford round to Westfield.

Rocksaltrita · 12/01/2025 16:57

Definitely don’t bother with Bicester Village! It’s all designer, queues to get into shops, most very high end. Way too high end for teenage jeans!

lol. Funnily enough, I did that at the start! But as I mentioned in the op, she doesn’t know what brands she likes.

Thanks all. I’m thinking Westfield is probably a better bet.

Last time I went it was all people from the middle east who had flown in from Dubai to Luton, (luggage tags visible on their belongings), and were presumably going to fill their boots with Gucci, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Dolce & Gabbana and whatnot, and then fly back home again.
There was a small fleet of limos at the 'posh' entrance.

The only things that got me interested last time were a Vivienne Westwood handbag, which I decided against in the end, and a coffee.

Yes!!! I've found a lovely pair in pull and bear, just need to lose a few lbs and they'd fit perfectly!
