Boring post alert-sorry

Bought reduced pizza bases on Friday, said best before the 11th -(yesterday) I was going to make then last night, totally forgot and made lasagna
Will these be ok for today or chuck them out?

They will be fine.

Shoxfordian · 12/01/2025 13:21

They'll be ok if its just best before

Arlanymor · 12/01/2025 13:21

It’s sell by, not use by, they will be fine.

Yoyokitten · 12/01/2025 13:23

Yes they will be fine to use.
I'm a retired chef with advanced hygiene training, and would be happy to use them.
Enjoy your pizzas

They'll be fine no matter if it's use by, sell by or best before.

Pizza bases don't have an internal clock that ticks over at midnight.

Check it if you like - if it smells fine and looks fine then it's okay.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 12/01/2025 13:25

Now I want pizza too! 🍕 🍕🍕

LegoBingo · 12/01/2025 13:26

It best before so of there's no visible mould give it a go

Scutterbug · 12/01/2025 13:27

They’ll be fine, you’d see if they were mouldy!

CurlewKate · 12/01/2025 13:28

Absolutely fine. If they are mouldy today I'd take them back!

CatsorDogsrule · 12/01/2025 13:28

Just check for mould, but they are likely to be absolutely fine. BTW, was the date Sell By, Use By or Best Before? They all have different meanings.

This. It's use by because it's perishable food that needs to be kept in the fridge, but the date is also very conservative meaning that the food will almost certainly be perfectly good for at least a couple of days beyond the date.

Plus because it's only bread, deterioration will show as mould, which you can just pick off and eat the rest anyway, it's not like it's raw poultry or sea food.

@Justgottagetrightoutofhere I hope you were able to make your pizzas and also that they were delicious. 😋
