At the laundrette washing bedding then hoping to use dryers.

Washing nearly complete . 3 driers free - all good.

A family have just come in and loaded up washing to dry in the three empty machines. Didn't use washing machines.

Really pissed off now Confused

Now they're standing around like it's a fucking day out !

It sounds like they are using them as intended. Annoying for you, but they aren't doing anything wrong.

woodlandtrees · 12/01/2025 11:11

I know, just sounding off. 🤣

That's really selfish. Launderette dryers are huge compared to home ones so they must have put a huge amount of stuff in.

So annoying

did you take a book?

TwattyMcFuckFace · 12/01/2025 11:13

Couldn't you have asked them to save you one?

Doseofreality · 12/01/2025 11:13

They have as much right to pay and use the facilities as you do.

PotOfViolas · 12/01/2025 11:14

If I was going to dry stuff I'd ask other people if they were going to need one and leave one free. Not block them all. It's called being considerate, although a lot of people aren't brought up to be considerate unfortunately

rwalker · 12/01/2025 11:14

It’s shit but unfortunately one of those things

woodlandtrees · 12/01/2025 11:15

Sign says ' priority to those using washing machines '

They took up three dryers !

Weekend mornings are generally the most busiest times for launderettes from memory when I used them when I was a student. Weekday evenings are usually less peak times.

MontyNojangles · 12/01/2025 11:16

Coming in with already wet clothing probably means their dryer is on the fritz and they are desparate. Get over it.

mothra · 12/01/2025 11:19

I use a laundromat 4 - 5 times a week. Probably about 2 of those visits are to use a dryer only.

My laundromat has twice as many dryers as washing machines. The owner told me he did it to make sure that people who use both (and therefore spend more money in the laundromat) aren't forced to wait for a dryer, because it's very common for customers to just want to use a dryer.

Pinkpank · 12/01/2025 11:20

Annoying but just one of those things OP! I quite enjoy a few hours at the laundrette away from the DCs for a while, I bring a book, coffee and snacks. So is like a day out for me too Grin

I get that , but using three dryers when they can see people using washing machines!

OP posts:
comedycentral · 12/01/2025 11:26

What are you going to do? How long will it take for them to dry?

Is unfortunate but perhaps necessary. Workwear/uniforms for school?
I've got 6 kids, if my dryer suddenly shit itself I'd need to use 3 dryers in the laundrette too!

woodlandtrees · 12/01/2025 11:32

I have mine in a dryer now. Other people waiting while their toddler runs about screaming.

Obviously they havent done anything wrong but I feel your pain!

Last time I got back of holiday, I took all of the washing to the launderette to get it washed and dried all at once. I remember the panicky feeling as my wash was coming to an end that someone would come in and take the only free drier. The relief when I could grab my first wet item and chuck it in the drier was immense 🤣

Chuchoter · 12/01/2025 11:38

Can you take your washing to an outdoor dryer? Revolution have them all over!

Yes , it can be like that. It's a bit of a first world problem.
