fuck how many people have bought "this", are looking at it, clicked on it, have it in their basket etc. etc.?

Every time I'm browsing online - usually clothes shops - and click on something I like the look of, I can't see it properly because of the endless banners that pop up to tell you how popular it is.

I suppose it's intended to pressure you into buying if something is popular and there's a chance it will become unavailable, but it's fucking annoying when you're jusy trying to see what something looks like!

agree! Have to wait ages for the bloody banners to disappear!

Yes! And I went to a chain restaurant and downloaded their app for a discount. It told me in real time what orders had just been received by the kitchen. IDGAF!

So much online shopping now seems to be about creating an idea of scarcity, so you panic buy it.

Weekly ‘drops’. ‘Selling out fast’. Daily emails.

Whole thing awful. If I’m going to spend money on new clothes I want to consider it, not panic buy it (particularly given the high cost of even a very simple dress or blouse from many brands now).

There’s usually a x in the top corner to get rid of it isn’t there.

I dislike the trend for showing models scrunched up crouching, so you can’t actually see the garment properly.

I'm actually less likely to buy as I'd rather not look like everyone else.

It does make me laugh though when something's been mentioned on the S&B board and suddenly "6533 people are looking at this" 😄

To be fair, this is what prompted my post - I opened a link to a pair of trousers on here, understandably lots of people had done the same according to the banner but it happens when I'm browsing normally as well!

What irks me is 'conspiracy marketing'.

"BigPharma want this product banned."

"Buy now, before this site is blocked."

"Hollywood stars don't want you to know this secret."

...yeah. Scarlett Johanssen's on the phone to Pfizer's CEO saying, "If this becomes common knowledge in Peckham, we're fucked..."
