AIBU to wonder why my dd loves to elbow me at every given opportunity

I'll just be relaxing next to her and she'll take the opportunity to rest her elbow on me and then her whole bodyweight on the elbow!!

Lighthearted, she has asd and she's super sweet, just drives me mad!!

How old is she ? My 4 year old does things like this and it drives me nuts I get so overwhelmed by it ! He's always blowing in my face etc as well 🙄

Same! 3yo DS sharp little elbows all over the place. Plus generally so clumsy in a way that honestly sometimes hurts, always stepping on my toes or bumping into me. Much more than with his dad. It definitely brings on a bit of overwhelm.

You've just brought back memories of mine as toddlers. Always doing it! It was had enough normally but they did it a couple of times post c section. Man it hurt!

Yes or she'll knee me or sit on me with her bony bum! 😄 no-one tells you about this aspect of motherhood

Can't you just say: please don't do that - it hurts!

soundsys · 07/01/2025 22:15

Ah, one day she'll be taller than you and able to rest her elbow on your shoulder 😁 (sorry it never ends!)

Cryingatthegym · 07/01/2025 22:16

My 3 year old has to constantly stand on my feet or have his feet touching me in some way. It's like having a labrador.

Spirallingdownwards · 07/01/2025 22:18

You can of course tell her not to. Even if she has asd. And you can explain why she shouldn't. Each time. That way she will learn the acceptable way to behave with others at school etc.

Ugh. I have a 2yo and 4yo and this is currently one of their more annoying habits. At least a couple of times a day I tell them to watch their elbows or they can't be on/ near me.

The other thing they do is occasionally whack me in the face -- and I react more because my prescription glasses are expensive and I don't want them broken.
