Rachel from accounts has crashed the economy

1000 replies

Almn0etd · 07/01/2025 21:01

So borrowing costs are now even higher than when Liz Truss was around.

The economy is well and truly cooked and in a far worse shape now that Rachel accounts is in charge.

Why isn’t this dominating the news cycle? Because it’s Labour.

The Tories were atrocious. Labour are an indescribable disaster for this country, surpassing the lowest of the low bars. Cue Labour apologists who don’t mind being made poorer and having the country destroyed, as long it’s Labour doing it to them.

It funded lots of holidays, new cars, extensions, etc for those lucky enough to qualify, whether they "needed" it or not. Shame there wasn't the same safety net for the freelancers, temps, casuals and self employed who needed it but were excluded. Hey ho!

Then of course, all the loans given out with barely any checks because Rishi thought it was "too hard" to check lending criteria and eligibility, so loads of people (many in organised gangs) fraudulently pretending to be running a limited company business (bought from Ebay for £50), claimed tens of thousands in loans and beggared off abroad never to be seen again.

Nice one Rishi!

I had one of those loans from my bank and I am still paying it back at £400 a month. So not everyone used them for holidays I needed it to save my business

BBC 'The latest IMF figures suggested the UK economy had weaker growth last year than the organisation had forecast' that said I do hope this years prediction is correct but with Trump back in power who knows, I don't think Keir has made any friends there.

Looking at the figures and IMF we were going gang busters first quarter 2024 at 0.7, what a shame we stopped with that. Over a year that round be high

Also it shows how muted other G7 countries are rn. Germany will be a factor and France, the former finding it harder after Ukraine war and gas supplies and the latter such high debt.

BIossomtoes · 18/01/2025 08:10

We weren’t going “gangbusters”, no country was. As you say, the whole of the west is struggling economically. The UK is in line with the general trend.

EasternStandard · 18/01/2025 08:13

0.7 is way better than 0.1 per quarter

Even Labour’s bean counters can see that difference I’m sure

As for G7 not going well plenty of other countries to take the young, mobile or wealthy

Which as figures realised today on high earners is picking up already

France and Germany aren’t the receivers but better prospects will be to our loss

The US is struggling?

Much of the west has shifted right, whilst we have just entered a socialist experiment - many of our economic woes are now self-inflicted.

True. The US and others will pick up on this

It’s well known that Trump with his low tax, low restriction mantra is targetting to grow the USA economy more than other western equivalents. No matter what people think of him, low taxes + business friendly laws = more growth. The IMF predictions back that up.

Comparing UK and Europe to US growth is laughable.

Euro zone and US economies and were roughly the same size a few years ago. Now US economy is twice the size of Eurozone. And UK is really just irrelevant in all of this, as Polands economy will be larger than ours in the next few years.

So folks don’t embarrass yourselves by trying to compare ours or Europe’s pathetic economic situation with the US.

This is what happens when you try and go socialist and leftie, it never ever works. Rachel from accounts should have known this, but then she has proved that she’s not cut out for this, she knows nothing about the job she’s in.

BIossomtoes · 18/01/2025 09:15

I didn’t. You’ve quoted what I said which didn’t mention the US. Let’s see what Trump’s intended tariffs do for the US economy.

So the US is no longer in the west? The US IS practically the west. It makes up half of western outcome output.

And when all else fails, speculate that Trump will be bad for the economy. Despite the fact he has been in power for 4 years during the time that US was outpacing the rest of the western sphere.

Try again?

BIossomtoes · 18/01/2025 09:49

The world was a very different place the last time Trump was in power and he didn’t introduce the tariffs he’s currently proposing. Let’s see how Fortress America goes.

There’s very little point in discussing anything with someone who thinks the last iteration of the Tories were left wing.

Anniedash · 18/01/2025 09:52

Yeah that’s right, when facts don’t support your argument, just make stuff up. And forecast the future based on your biases despite there being 0 past evidence for it.

The same Tories who made higher earners pay the highest tax burden ever. All whilst protection pensioners, welfare and dishing out state money like a casino win. Yeah, what a government on the right they were.

Don’t forget the open borders and a million low skilled migrants a year.

Xenia · 18/01/2025 11:00

The last Tory Government was very very high tax, very big state and high spend tories. Labour's motto is change but that is an Animal Farm "change" - what Labour really means is "not-change".
