Radio 2 presenters.

Do some Radio 2 presenters talk too much, or do Radio 2 bosses ever listen to them. Some of them ring up their mothers or fathers during the show, some talk about defleeing the dog or about their horse's. And some just prattle on a out nothing much. Or is this just a ploy so they don't have to play so much music. And there is one presenter who plays loud back ground music and turns it down while he prattles on. Rant over. B.

They send me insane and appear to promote themselves and their guests e.g book launches , concerts etc even though the BBC is supposed to be impartial and not for flogging your wares. I hate most radio these days because of the stupid long winded adverts.

Agree, they do go on a bit sometimes.
You could try a few different stations, there are loads of them to choose from. Or play some music you really like instead.

I rarely listen to radio 2 all day. It’s ok to pick one presenter /show you like and go surfing the other stations if you find another you don’t, you don’t need to be loyal to one radio station.

BBC radio presenters- both radio one and two - tend to talk more than other stations because they aren’t stopping for adverts. I’m sure I read they play the same number of tracks per hour as most commercial stations, but obviously commercial stations give time to ads. So I guess it’s what do you prefer? Someone chatting with songs around them, more quiz shows or features/interviews, or more more of a DJ just linking between music and adverts? (The obvious exception to this is Virgin Breakfast - Chris Evans never shuts up so you hear very little music between his chats /features/playing audio clips of lifestyle gurus and then adverts. Outside of the breakfast show, Virgin play similar music mix to Radio 2 so might suit you better.)

I was sort of directed here from my own thread grumbling about Radio 2 and the drivel that passes for daytime entertainment. See Vernon Kay, Ellie Brennan, Sara Cox, Paddy McGuiness and Sally Boazman as the worst offenders. Romesh Ranganathan is heading that way as he's now a double act with Sally.
