To ask how I can help DH

DH has a skin disease on the finger of one hand. It's extremely painful and the only thing which eases the pain is keeping it warm. He's tried gloves but they're impossible to wear all day especially when working and they don't really do much. Carrying a hot water bottle around all day isn't practical either.

Any suggestions? Heart breaks for him as it's getting worse. Doctors are aware of his pain, he's sadly on the waiting list for an amputation.

There are heated handwarmers - more portable than a hot water bottle.

Yes those little pocket warmers that you boil to reset and then snap the metal

outerspacepotato · 05/01/2025 17:20

They have small rechargeable hand warmers now.

@useitorlose

He has tried those but again get in the way whilst he's working. I think he wants something that just covers that finger but I don't think anything like that exists.

If it's just one finger would a finger bandage help? Would only cover one finger rather than the whole hand.

Thank you for the ideas. Those little hotties seem good if they really last 10 hours like it says on the packet.

You can get heat pack beads for making heat packs, im not sure what fabric would be good for using with them but perhaps if you cut two fingers off a pair of gloves and sewed them together (one inside the other) with the beads inside, you can microwave it to warm the beads. You could even perhaps do one without the fingertip covered. Not sure I have explained very well sorry!
