Mine are relationship dilemmas (where the obvious answer isnt just to ltb) , sex and dating dilemmas, and gossip/tea spilling

More of those in 2025 please 🤭 x

My life is very uneventful, just revolves around my dd and my cat 😄 so I'm living vicariously through you all

I quite like the ones where hapless posters who are trapped into giving someone a lift. The they could just say no. In fact it is the only way out of the situation.

Also the ones where the OP asks for opinions, is overwhelmingly found to be unreasonable and then accuses everyone else of being bullies.

There were two really good lift threads I was following as we went into lockdown. The ops both must have dighed with relief at being able to break the cycle, but I feel slightly cheated...

Linkle · 06/01/2025 09:53

I really like the ones where OP is genuinely asking and accepts when they've been unreasonable, especially when they come back to update and they've been able to make amends with the other person involved.

The ones were they refuse to update are annoying but the most annoying are ones where OP appears back several times a day to continue arguing with the 99% of people who have said YABU. Often they really latch on to the one or two people agreeing with them and laugh at everyone else. "I know! Everyone's being so ridiculous. That's Mumsnet for you."

On Mumsnet the first few replies really set the tone of the thread and Im always fascinated by the ones where the replies are weirdly aggressive for no reason, especially when the situation is quite mild.

Loved the T rex in ASDA and man in the fly seat of a bus thread. They make no sense and are so ridiculously stupid that they make me proper lol - I appreciate the fly seat poster might not have English as their first language, but it was still hilarious!

WHAT?!?! NOOOOO!!!!!
how did you find out the story was fake?!

Come on, it was obviously fiction — quite carefully constructed, with the isolated house sitting in the forest setting, the noises in the hen house to build anticipation, the (apparently) bolting puppy to justify heading into the forest by night, the demonic voices forbidding the name of Christ , the reacting dogs, the flight back through the trees, and the mystery of the puppy being safely in the house after all.

The thing that fascinated me about it is how much currency it appeared to get among Mners purely because it got reposted a lot, which peoole appeared to think meant it had credibility.

aw you've spoilt all the fun now @Squadrona 😉

The ones where the OP is indeed being VU and everyone replies asking why they are asking such a batshit question.

I was gutted to find out it was highly unlikely to be real too..... great story though and I STILL want to go that forest!

I haven’t, though! It’s still a well-crafted spooky story, same as it was when you read it — the question is why you implicitly believed something an anonymous person posted on the internet in the first place, to the point where someone else pointing out it was carefully-crafted disappoints you. I mean, I enjoy patently untrue stories on here all the time. I thoroughly enjoyed the deeply implausible ‘Tristan, Molly, the blizzard and the glamping pods’ one, and the (to me) rather well-paced, low-key one about strange upstairs goings on in an old mill converted into an office, though the writer ran out of steam and stopped posting.

good grief. 🙄 don't be so serious.

I think we can all say that when reading that story there was a chance it wasn't true and the PP made up the (very good) story. I was joking when I said you'd spoilt the fun. lighten up.

OK, you sparkle on.

I also love a thread where people fall out over absolutely nothing...😉

Abitofalark · 06/01/2025 12:52

Those with useful or at least intelligible thread titles. I'd be here all day if I were to go into thread titles, from the useless 'This' to the paragraph-length ramble that takes up half the screen and belongs in a novel.

buybuysellsell · 06/01/2025 18:14

Parking
Inheritance
CFs

Definitely CF stories, particularly if they go on for ages!

Thursa · 07/01/2025 02:05

Stickortwigs · 04/01/2025 17:14

CF ones. I’d like to see a CF dedicated board.

Couldn’t agree more! Nothing beats a good CF post.

GRCP · 04/01/2025 17:30

I like the CF ones - particularly if there are live updates which form a kind of narrative.

Exactly this for me too!
