My daughter is 2 months old likes contact naps in the day time . As soon she go in the cot she wake up and cries. However at night she sleeps well 5 hours or 7 hours broken times in her cot.

I don't know what to do

This is reallllly normal! You either keep trying to put her down for naps in her cot so she gets used to it, or just accept that you will have to let her nap on you for a while longer in the meantime.
It’s great that she can sleep in there at night! Hopefully over time she’ll get more used to it and start napping for longer in her crib if that’s what you want. At the moment she just wants to feel safe and close to you.

So normal … mine was the same till about 9 months plus then started to nap independently… get some good headphones and try to relax for now

My daughter was exactly the same. I used to make a cup of tea, put snacks in reach and watch tv/films with the subtitles on. Happy days!

zerofucksgivenever · 04/01/2025 20:00

This sounds fucking amazing if you're not up every hour during the night at this age!

Noodlesnotstrudels · 04/01/2025 20:02

Really normal. I still contact nap my 9month old. See it as the universe telling you to enjoy the time with your baby. Get some good boxsets on tv or podcasts / audio books. Don't worry about the housework/cleaning.

We ended up doing naps in the pram. She faced me so could see I was there.I was able to put her down awake and rock her gently to sleep. After a little grizzling, it worked and became our routine.

My son was the same. Slept great in the cot at night but absolutely would not sleep there during the day at all. I had to hold him for every nap or occasionally he would nap in the pram if we were out. From my experience there’s not really anything you can do. At least nothing worked for me. He naturally grew out of it at around a year old and now naps well in his cot too.

What are you having trouble with @Lilylake

This is very normal. I basically spent 6 months stuck to the sofa with my youngest. He just wanted to be ‘on’ at all times.

It is exhausting but quite normal.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 04/01/2025 20:12

What should you do?

Enjoy the contact naps, would be my advice.

89redballoons · 04/01/2025 20:14

Embrace the contact naps.

I don't think mine napped by themselves for any decent amount of time until they were in a routine of 2 naps a day, so around 8/9 months. It got more reliable again when they dropped down to just the one nap. But you can't impose a routine like that on a 2 month old - well maybe you can, but I definitely never could.

Get a carrier if you need to get things done while she sleeps, and she might snooze in there while you potter around. Or just let yourself sit on the sofa browsing mumsnet or watching TV.

This is normal. What’s the problem?
