Lazy or Active?

I am naturally quite lazy. I like doing nothing much when I have free time. Chilling out, watching Tv, reading etc.

My sister is completely the opposite. Always out and about doing things and can’t sit still for longer than an hour. We went on holiday together and whilst I was happy lazing in the sun and reading, she was getting itchy feet after an hour.

i was just wondering which is more common or are most people a bit of both ?

I don't think relaxing is being lazy! I work full time and I love just to chill at weekends

LittleRedRidingHoody · 04/01/2025 12:18

I'm your sister in this scenario - I don't think it's necessarily 'better' - my mind just doesn't switch off no matter how hard I try 😬 I find it easier to be on the go/busy because if I try and relax my brain just fills with things I should be doing.

geekone · 04/01/2025 12:21

I am more like your sister I need to be active to switch off. I love a run and my brain is calm and I like nothing more that an activity holiday. That being said I also like an hour or so in a spa or reading in the shade.

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 04/01/2025 12:22

My brain is constantly busy, I cannot switch off my inner monologue at all (although Mounjaro has reduced it somewhat) but in terms of my body, I think I'm 98% sloth. I could sleep 12 hours of the day and still be tired, I struggle to interact socially outside of enforced times (ie work) and doing nothing is my favourite way to spend time.

DH is like your sister. I'd say I'm in between!

RickiRaccoon · 04/01/2025 12:52

You're allowed to relax without being 'lazy' -- especially on holiday. Activity can also vary based on where you are.

I know on weekends I can't sit still at home because I want to clean and fix the house while DH is more likely to sit with a coffee or play a computer game. However, on holiday I'm keen to do maybe 1 activity a day and then relax a little and not be on the go. Meanwhile, DH seems to need to tick off activities so he can feel we've made the most of being away.

I definitely fall into your category but like pp I wouldn’t call it lazy! I am introverted and know I need a lot of time to decompress and recharge.

Beattie2 · 04/01/2025 14:07

Sorry lazy not the right word really. Just the one I could think of when posting :-)
