Panto distraction

At a panto last night, there was a woman further forward wearing a beret/newsboy type hat in quite a bright colour. It didn't block my view much but it did distract me from time to time, especially when she laughed. AIBU to think she could have left it at home?

YABU to even consider starting a thread about this 😴 Total non event.

NuffSaidSam · 03/01/2025 19:43

Anyone wearing a hat at the theatre should be asked to take it off (or sent to a re-education centre).

ohyesido · 03/01/2025 19:45

I think it is actually etiquette not to wear swords, farthing-gales, suits of armour or ride unicycles in the theatre. Brightly coloured hats not so much

DogDaysNeverEnd · 03/01/2025 19:47

Oh goodness, we had kids with those flashy maracas that seem to be sold outside venues now. What in the bloody good griefing heck are they?? Beret sounds fine in comparison.

I propose special showings for people who want to follow all the rules and sit in silence. Polite applause and the occasional "they're behind you!" permitted.

polpolpolpol · 03/01/2025 19:48

How did it distract you?

DogDaysNeverEnd · 03/01/2025 19:49

@PantoHorse having just twigged your name I'm wondering how you could see the hat, and was it worn by the dame? In which case were the massive fake norks and purple hair not more of a distraction? 😂

It was in my line of sight and her head movements were more noticeable because of it. I'm not saying it's a major crime obviously

Edited

My name was changed for the post but it's not a prank post. But you've made me smile.

@OzCalling I know it's not a big event, I'm just curious what people think.

Less distracting than those stupid light up spinning things. They piss me off.

Gowlett · 03/01/2025 21:00

Would annoy the feck outta me! I’m with you, OP.

Thanks (unless it's sarcasm of course 😂)

The hat wouldn't bother me.

However, I would like to pick off people using phones to record in the theatre or concert from the Royal Box.

VanillaImpulse · 04/01/2025 19:08

I'm with you OP. I went to see Shrek and this group of ten people in front were wearing hats with Shrek horns on which was really distracting and blocking the view. Really selfish.
