Well you & I both know we have very different stances so no you can't. Do your own leg work for goodness sake.

Do your own leg work? Surely if your true motive is to highlight your concerns regarding this then you would want to help others to do the same by sharing your already vast back catalogue of letters?

MrsSchrute · 03/01/2025 15:24

Bakedpotatoes · 03/01/2025 15:17

Why? Why not just implement the findings of the first inquiry? Surely actually doing something is better than wasting millions to find information that they already know and give findings they already have.

I think it's great the spotlight is back on the VAWAG but claiming nothing is being done is not true.

Exactly this! There is no reason for an inquiry to tell us what we already know!

Souffl3 · 03/01/2025 15:25

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 15:12

Exactly. There is no grey area. There is no condoning . You are either for or against the sexual exploitation of children.
Anyone who is disgusted & horrified by what happened at the hands of this evil gang will be delighted that such powerful figures are speaking out. Like EM, J.K Rowling has tweeted very valuable contributions & is continuing to heap the pressure on.
How many more complicit who haven't been before judge & jury?

But the sexual exploitation and abuse of children online as a result of big tech companies like his doing zilch is ok. Far far more children are being abused and exploited online around the world from very young ages but they don’t matter. He needs to set his own back yard in order first. It’s where it starts.

I support making young girls safe.

Surely if you have spent all these years writing letters to MPs, you should want others to do as well?

Go on, share your letter contents, let us all take up your cause and shine a light.

LetThereBeLove · 03/01/2025 15:26

ilovesooty · 03/01/2025 14:49

So why didn't the Tories do anything while they were in power? Why wasn't the sainted Elon concerned then?

Exactly! The 'saintly Elon' is only concerned with right wing populism not fairness and justice in Britain.

itsgettingweird · 03/01/2025 15:26

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 14:34

@kistanbul if that's true why are the tories calling for another investigation this morning?
It's disgraceful that it's taking Elon Musk to raise awareness.
How many complicit behind the scenes that knew & failed to act? It's not enough that the perpetrators are behind bars. Everyone who failed to do their jobs & protect those girls need investigating. Not good enough.
Elon Musk has been tweeting all morning, it really boils my piss that our politicians didn't do the same.

Why didn't the Troy's out the recommendations into lace from the report filed when they were running government?

I know from that posters previous posts that we have different stances so she can type up her own viewpoint (assuming the poster is a she, as this is mumsnet!)
Most people & activists who are anti child exploitation have no problems putting their thoughts down. Strange that poster is unable to..

There has been an inquiry but the findings & proposals haven't been implemented.
The tories themselves are asking for the inquiry to reopen.
How many behind the scenes knew what was involved & didn't act with the information they had.

Why didn’t said Tories implement the recommendations of the existing inquiry?

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 15:28

LetThereBeLove · 03/01/2025 15:26

Exactly! The 'saintly Elon' is only concerned with right wing populism not fairness and justice in Britain.

So calling out child sex abuse is now "right wing"...

I think anybody calling out children being drugged & raped have their best interests at heart.. the ones staying silent are the ones to be concerned about.

Oh my Goodness. Impossible to reason with people like you. You just keep parroting the same nonsense.

Ahhh so it’s not because you don’t actually have any letters then?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/01/2025 15:30

Why didn’t said Tories implement the recommendations of the existing inquiry?

Obviously because the Labour Party in opposition didn't do their job properly to make those naughty (but very appealing) Tories do the work of Government.

NOTE - SARCASM ALERT.

We share a common cause surely - the safety and wellbeing of young girls.

Any activist would want to spread her campaigning to every MP.

Why not use this opportunity for everyone on this thread to spread your message to all by sharing just one letter?

Why didn't labour do anything while they were in opposition?!

WTF
now I know you’re trolling. Your response to being asked why the government of the time didn’t act is to ask why the OPPOSITION didn’t act!!!!

the clue is in the name. At the time they were not in power!

jesus fucking christ

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 15:28

It is when it’s only to suit a political cause and when child sex abuse is ignored in one’s own back yard ie big tech companies like his.

No but the oppositions job is to pile pressure on the government in power!!

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 03/01/2025 15:33

Well the tories themselves want an enquiry. It's labours right as opposition to demand change & keep the pressure on the party in power until that change is implemented.

I'll now respond to this is BOLd 3 times as you've managed to not see the response the previous 20 billions times.

*The Tory's HAD an enquiry. They didn't enact on the recommendations 3 years ago.
*

The Tory's HAD an enquiry. They didn't enact on the recommendations 3 years ago.

The Tory's HAD an enquiry. They didn't enact on the recommendations 3 years ago.

Now you can't have missed this. The question is why the Tory's want an enquiry they've had when the current government are implementing the strategies from that enquiry that they didn't.

Surely you want to inspire people to write to their MPs?

In my experience people who have written to their MPs are happy to share their letter for others to use. Not everyone is confident drafting a letter.

Why not share?

I think if you cared enough you could write your own letters & emails but you appear to prefer deflection tactics on mimsnet rather than take action

But sharing a draft letter that people can use really will encourage people to write to their MPs.

Even if you don’t think I will write, surely others on the thread will?

What does it hurt to share your letter?

Or one of your posts on FWR [anonymised of course]

If you you continue to deflect/evade these perfectly reasonable requests I'll assume that they don't exist
