Not sure if this is the right please to post but I don’t know until I try…
At the beginning of December I started having a pain behind my belly button (like a pulling sensation), I ignored it for a couple of weeks but the pain then started to move into the right side of my tummy. I made a doctors appointment which was for today. Explained everything to the doctor and how the pain is only in the right side and has gotten worse over the last 3 days. She took my temp etc which was all fine then felt my tummy. She said she is pretty certain it’s my appendix but I wasn’t presenting in the typical way for appendicitis, told me to go to A + E if the pain gets worse. Since she pressed on my tummy the pain has gotten worse, although I wouldn’t say severe but it’s painful!
Should I be going to A + E or just wait it out longer? Has anyone else had appendicitis and presented in a similar way? I’m so confused

If it is appendicitis and you wait too long it can burst so yes I would follow doctors instructions in your case

verycloakanddaggers · 02/01/2025 17:51

Follow the doctor's advice.

You can have a thing called a grumbling appendix.

if It’s sore and you were told to go to a&e then I’d follow the docs advice

It could be grumbling appendix (this can come and go, or escalate), or something else. At the point you're in severe pain and vomiting with appendicitis, however, it's then an emergency.

I'd say go to A&E if your pain level has increased and it's worrying you.

Go to A and E

Scutterbug · 02/01/2025 18:01

Yes, A and E. You don’t want it to escalate and rupture.

weebarra · 02/01/2025 18:02

Yes, I would go to a&e.
I was the same as you until it was so sore I spent an entirely sleepless night through pain.
Eventually I went to out of hours, they told me it was my appendix, went to a&e and it was removed as an emergency.
