Poor quality footmuff

Hi everyone,

in February 2024 I bought the mamas and papas ocarro pram in a bundle including car seat. This wasn’t cheap at £1500 but included the car seat, bassinet, seat unit, blanket and bag etc. When it was sold we were told it was designed to be used up until baby didn’t require it anymore (up to 22kg/4 years) and if anything was to go wrong it is covered with a warranty and we could pop into store with any issues. This swayed our decision on buying it rather than a different brand.

My baby is now 9 months and we have only been using the seat unit since September and the footmuff since It got a bit colder at the end of September/beginning of October. So all in all less than 3 months use of the footmuff. A few weeks ago we realised the inside of the footmuff and section that folds over has gone completely worn and bobbly. Considering this is meant to be used until 4 years old, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be unhappy with this.
I contacted Mamas and Papas customer service directly who said this wouldn’t be covered as it is a fabric and the bobbling is due to wear and tear. I followed this up with an email saying I’m unhappy but they have still stuck to the same thing.
Surely I’m covered somehow? Wondering if anyone has any advice about this.

thanks

i hope your complaint was a little clearer Op

But just because the system is designed to fit up to a 4 year old it doesn’t mean you have a 4 year warranty that includes underwriting of general wear and tear.
I can see both sides.

BoldExpert · 02/01/2025 14:33

can you post a pic op?

BoldExpert · 02/01/2025 14:34

is the entire package suitable for up to a 4 year old?

or perhaps just the push chair

Bogginsthe3rd · 02/01/2025 14:34

Is this post about a footmuff?

LIZS · 02/01/2025 14:35

They definitely won't fit in the footmuff by 4, in fact once your baby is wearing shoes it probably won't be feasible. So max 2 winters. Bobbling is caused by friction and washing, and you could probably get rid of most with a defuzzing tool.

YankeeDad · 02/01/2025 14:39

What’s a footmuff?

What’s a footmuff?

It is a padded sleeping bag which fits a pushchair!

mummyh2016 · 02/01/2025 15:43

I had the same pram with my children and the footmuff was seperate, they didn't do a bundle with the footmuff. Did you purchase it as a separate item?
What's caused the bobbling? Has it been rubbing up against something?

BarbaraHoward · 02/01/2025 15:55

I don't think bobbling would affect the functioning of a foot muff though. Does it really matter?

Symposium · 02/01/2025 16:13

I can understand you being a little disappointed but bobbling of material doesn't make it unusable. It's just a bit of cosmetic wear and tear surely?

Exactly. Wait til your toddler starts puking/pooing and putting food all over it. Bit of bobbling won't bother you then. Honestly you're over thinking.

AndSoFinally · 02/01/2025 17:45

There's no way they'll still fit in the foot muff at 4 years old. 18 months-2 years is all you'll probably get, so I'm not sure that's a valid argument

Are they wearing shoes in the foot muffler, especially ones with Velcro as this will increase the bobbling

Wear and tear is never covered on any sort of warranty unfortunately

NewGirlMum24 · 03/01/2025 03:33

Thanks guys - maybe I am overthinking, I’m just really disappointed. I thought it would all be much better quality for the price. This is my first baby and hadn’t thought about the footmuff not lasting so long, at least Iv taken that away from the post.

No, it came with the travel system pack.

no idea, my baby doesn’t wear shoes and as I said has only used it a couple of months. It has two different fabrics, one is fine and the other is thinner almost like jersey material and has bobbled inside and outside. I will post pics tomorrow

I wouldn't get hung up on the age 4 thing, as your child will be out of the pushchair long before then.
