Stroke

My sister has suffered with health anxiety for many years. I’ve been a bit of a crutch for her until my own mental health was beginning to suffer. Within a week of me taking a step back she claimed to have had a stroke - no doctors blood tests have confirmed this. She says she is now going blind too. I feel horrendously guilty.

Well, she either has or she hasn’t. Did she go to hospital for a proper check up?

Surely that's even more reason for her to take control of her own health?

Stay strong and show empathy for the facts, only. No guesses or google symptoms from her.

You are not responsible for your sister's health. I appreciate it's really hard to keep the guilt at bay but trust me it's important to find coping mechanisms to ensure you don't.

I suspect, given time and more emerging perceived issues from your Dsis, will start to numb you off.

If she's had a stroke she will be under the care of a consultant for scans and probably medication. There are several possible causes. And if her vision changed around the same time as her stroke there are specialist clinics to investigate that.

What I'm saying is that IF these stories are true, she should have support and you don't need to worry. If you're still in touch you could just send her a 'really sorry to hear that' text and leave it.

a stroke isn't diagnosed by a blood test.
