Anyone else thinking....here comes the new year, same as the old year?

Would be nice to know that I am not the only one feeling down and, frankly speaking just for me, utterly defeated.

No need to share why, but knowing I am not the only one would help.

I always feel a bit maudlin on NYE as I reflect on the year.
Positives

• I’m 40lbs lighter than this time last year. Covid-era weight gain has gone. Exercise has become a normal part of my life. I’m closing in on a normal BMI.
• I’m in a financial position that would have seemed fanciful a decade ago.

Negatives

• Struggling to get that next career move at work. Less a promotion. More of a sideways move but it alludes me and I feel like my career has hit a bit of a plateau.
• Made some progress in terms of improving my social life but I’ve found making friends in my thirties more challenging than my twenties.

My NY resolution was to stop making myself responsible for everyone else's happiness.

I have already failed at that. DD is struggling a bit in her first job and I already want to fix it!
