Fixing energy rate.. please explain to me as if I am 10!

So in spectacular last minute fashion we haven’t yet sorted it and we are still on the standard variable tariff. I’ve heard Martin Lewis say it significantly goes up tomorrow so to fix before. Is there a particular way to do this or best to just go through a comparison site?

It only goes up by just over 1% tomorrow so not a huge rise but there's definitely deals to be had. Try money saving expert's energy page. They've got tools and calculators that you can put your current rates/supplier in and compare switching deals available.
