Me today and it was great 🍔

Finally house to myself for a few hours. Special offer of two for one burgers from Uber eats. Ate them whilst watching crappy Real Housewives of Cheshire
Then shoved the bag to the very bottom of the bin
No one will ever know

Lovely. I get a McDonalds delivered every Monday as its the only day I have to myself. I eat it in bed while watching trashy TV. Monday is my favourite day of the week 😃

That sounds amazing! I love my husband and kids with all my heart but not having much time to myself to do things like that is the hardest part!

Also, what do you choose? Is it the same each week or do you mix it up a bit? What time do you have it and do your family know or do you also stash the evidence?

I remember dropping off Dd at school once in the winter and then just heading to the drive thru and getting a coffee and breakfast and sitting in the car watching the sea. Not a fan of the breakfasts as much, but felt like a pretty special moment..don’t know why I didn’t continue it

I like the Mondays in bed having one and watching crap tv thing better though

Love the maccies in bed! Amazing idea

Ignore everyone taking it too seriously

So why hide the wrappers if they had food at the cafe?

Hell would freeze over too before I had to hide snacks or any kind of food in my own home.

Tell your DH to leave certain things alone.

Entitled prick.

I suppose it’s not to be taken so seriously…I could have said but Dd especially would have moaned and then would have to spend more for them for dinner…just could not be arsed…easier to hide the bag 😁nothing deep about it really

StrawHatLuffy · 30/12/2024 20:13

The sneaky part adds to the taste..

I don't have to sneak food...
DD would ask for some, I'm can say no, bugger orf...
But, it's not the same as sneaking a Big Mac whilst she's at school 🤪

Is there need for aggressive name calling of OPs husband given its a fairly lighthearted thread?

TheHateIsNotGood · 30/12/2024 20:14

DS23 thinks I just get the super nice for him,😑

TheHateIsNotGood · 30/12/2024 20:15

super nice ice cream...fgs

LetsNCagain · 30/12/2024 20:17

like nachos, a little bit of choc etc, I have to hide or Dd asks me for it or Dh eats it

Op, this is really not normal that you have to hide a treat for yourself in case your husband steals it and eats it for himself.

It's not normal. Not lighthearted. At best it's totally bizarre and at worst it's abusive

ObieJoyful · 30/12/2024 20:18

Ffs!

How to ruin someone’s moment!!

This exact thread comes up every few months and has done for years.

The common theme is entitled pricks taking their wives and their children's snacks, so they never have anything for themselves and end up having to hide food in their own homes.

So yes, they are entitled pricks.

You're telling me nobody else has kids that don't let you have a bloody thing without having to have some. Or a husband that eats everything in sight? Must just be me and OP 😂

No abuse in my household I can assure you!

Abusive!! I mean, if things are left in the cupboard or fridge..Dd (6) or Dh generally would just have some, so I stash for myself…I thought that was pretty normal. My mum used to do similar and say ‘I can’t have anything in this house!’

They’re not abusive…just greedy sods 😂

I think there's line right.

You put a bar of dairy milk in the fridge and tell people it's yours, they shouldn't touch it.
Same as pringles or Doritos or whatever.
"These are mine, don't touch"
If someone fucker then has the audacity to touch them... Well, they win a super special prize and a day out at a&e to repair their fingers...

If a partner ignores you and just eats what you've earmarked as yours, that could be seen as an entitled prick.. if, however, you do the shopping and sling choccy bars, crisps and shite in the cupboards and some fat shit pigs it before you get chance to pig it yourself, well, it's fair game isn't..

Get it afore it gon'
Or tears you'll be drop
Ne'er mind the lbs you put on
It'll cost ye a bomb at the shop

This is typical Mumsnet, OP is being abused because she wanted to have a couple of burgers in peace

BINGO!

Thanks for that, just the 101st post on my card calling normal family life ABUSIVE

I deserve a drink

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 30/12/2024 20:38

I get the hiding thing - sometimes you want to indulge without having to think about everyone else!

Sounds great op!

MyCatIsTheHeadChef · 30/12/2024 20:40

Oh i really love a whopper. The DCs and i went to Butlins Bognor Regis this year and over the course of 3 days we ate 4 whoppers each. In our defence we don't have a BK anywhere near us. It was utterly blissful.

Wakemeupwhen81 · 30/12/2024 20:40

YANBU... I have one day off work a week (DH in the office and DC at school) and one day, I thought sod it, I'm going to order a McDonald's for lunch.... I also hid the packaging 😁 The deception was part of the thrill!

Haven't done it since, but maybe I should again 🤣 It's a bit trickier now though as I've changed my day off from Monday to Friday and DH is annoyingly working from home that day. Though could always do it on a day I'm WFH and he's in the office!

LetsNCagain · 30/12/2024 20:44

I didn't say anything against op's 6yo. But yeah, if I had a hot burger in my hand and my dh snatched it away and ate it before my eyes, that is bizarre and potentially abusive. We were not talking about something you left in the fridge. We were talking about a hot burger that you literally felt you needed to eat secretly or else your dh would eat it.

That's not normal! Nothing "bingo mumsnet" about it!

Sadcrimboisover · 30/12/2024 19:59

I don’t know what’s so special about it, but it’s just the peace and quiet and not being harassed, although the dog was doing her eyes at me

That is definitely being pestered!
Even if they quietly look away, you just KNOW they are waiting to be offered a bit of that soft, smelly burger and cheese...

I work at home and during normal times I'm home alone 8.30 to 4.30. Why have I never thought to get a food delivery for lunch?!
