Does anybody else feel like they have drank wayyyy too much alcohol this Christmas? I mean I love wine generally but I really have put it away this year, it’s my first Christmas as a single parent and I really struggled with it.

i just feel depressed and a bit shaky, dry January is on the cards.

Sorry to hear you struggled over Christmas. I don't drink so can't offer any advice on that front but I do remember the days of being a single parent and holiday periods and even worse when it was the alternate ones when they went to their dads. Put this one behind you and plan something nice for the new year. You do what you have to to get through.

Give yourself a break here OP, sounds like you've been through a lot recently.

But I'll say this, alcohol is never a good reach when you are feeling low. Just moderate the intake to one night a week or something and don't go overboard.

I'm a single parent, but I have been since my DD was born 9 years ago. I sometimes still struggle with Christmas as it can be lonely. The answer for me is to do lovely outdoors things that make you feel good, I don't drink much alcohol at all as it makes me feel worse. I do yoga and eat well and consequently I feel good.

Don't feel bad though, it's your first year and give yourself a break 😊
