Does anyone know a dummies guide to transfer data from one iCloud to another?

my daughters have them set up under their dads email account and want to set up their own but not without losing everything saved on their dads account

we have googled but nothing works

and we really need an idiots guild too!

I would go to a local Apple Store and ask

However

My DC set up their own iCloud / apple email account even though they were connected to my iCloud via the family setting they've been on for years

I went to the local Apple Store and they said I just had to delete them from my family account so now we all have our own iCloud

So I would get your DDs to create their own Apple ID first if not done already so that the items connected to their iPhones will then transfer to their iCloud account once deleted from the family account

Assuming the daughters each have their own devices now?
easiest way assuming you have enough storage on the device is for each to log in on their device to their dads account and then download what they want to save to their devices. Once everything is on the local device logout of the Dads account and log into their own. Back up will then be to the new accounts.

When you go into settings you will see your name at the top

If you tap on it it should show you an email address

That email is the email used for the iCloud for that phone

So my DD had her own email set up on her phone but her iCloud account was part of the family account you can have. Once I deleted her from the family iCloud all the iCloud items connected to her went straight to her personal
iCloud account.

All they have to do is set up their own email to their phone in settings if not done already

All the responses so far are for when the kids have pre existing Apple IDs they have been using as part of family sharing which isn’t the OPs issue (if I understand correctly). The kids have been using their dad’s id on their devices. So all their data will backup to his iCloud account. They now want their own ids. Therefore you’ll need to download as I described before backing up to the new id.

Like I said they can set up their Apple ID now and everything from their iPhones that's stored in iCloud will transfer to their new iCloud relating to their iPhone once they've been deleted from their dads account

Yeah not quite. Anything that isn’t on a phone anymore and now only exists in the dads iCloud account will need downloading to a device first. Then you can swap accounts on the device and it will be backed up to the new account. Jennyatthemall is correct for anything that has been deleted from a device.
