I bought 2 items from 2 separate buyers 3 days ago and neither have posted or responded to my thank you message (which is fine btw, I don't expect it!).

They're for my son's birthday next week, I'm getting anxious as I could order them from another buyer and still get them in time if I order now.

I just have a feeling they aren't going to send as normally I they're either sent or I've had some comms by day 3.
I wouldn't normally message, it's just it's for my son's birthday and he's only 7 so he'll be disappointed if they don't come!

Is it unreasonable to message to ask if they're still sending? One of the sellers has no reviews making me nervous!

WWYD in this situation?

Today is the first day the post office would be open I think? They don't need to be posted for ten days anyway. I would message them ' any chance I can have these for the weekend, it's for a birthday ' and act accordingly

buttonousmaximous · 30/12/2024 11:31

No harm in messaging and asking but yes they have upto ten days so they are not obliged.

Essited · 30/12/2024 11:31

I wouldn't have expected anyone to send over the weekend. They have way more than 3 days before they have to post.

In this situation you should always ask before you buy if they can send ASAP rather than buy and assume they can.

BusyMum47 · 30/12/2024 11:31

I use Vinted a fair bit & I would definitely message to enquire about likely delivery dates - if you're polite & explain about the birthday, most people will be decent enough to get a move on.

Due to the holidays though, sellers may be away from home? I've been caught out by that before now - bought something last minute & the seller was away & unable to post until day 10.

KnickerlessFlannel · 30/12/2024 11:32

If you need them for a set date, then it would have been best to message them first to ask when they can post, especially given the time of year, when people might be tied up with other things. I had a moan message because some purchased something from me at 10pm christmas eve and I didn't post until 27th, because they had wanted it urgently. A)I'm not a mind reader and b) i had other priorities on those days!

SJM1988 · 30/12/2024 11:34

I wouldn't have expected anything to happen with them over the weekend (I rarely post over the weekend). But then I also would have message before buying to check if they could post quickly if I needed them by a certain date.

There's no harm in messaging them to see when they will be posting but they do still have until at least Friday to post (It will tell you on the messages the exact date) I also wouldnt worry about no review sellers. Ive had more issues with so called 5 star review people than no review people

stripeystripedstripes · 30/12/2024 11:36

You should have asked before buying - they have much longer than that to post and it’s the xmas and new year period!

Alwayswonderedwhy · 30/12/2024 11:37

I would've asked before you bought if you need them for a specific date but no harm in asking if there's any chance they can post in time for his birthday.
I'm posting some vinted items today that people bought over Christmas, I wouldn't expect anyone to be posting quickly over the Christmas holiday.

WhatMe123 · 30/12/2024 11:38

I wouldn't expect people to post over Christmas tbh. Maybe message and ask the earliest they can post. People may be away etc

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 30/12/2024 11:40

You should have asked first, they are in the timeline.

Pineapplewaves · 30/12/2024 11:43

They have 5 working days to post (weekends, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day are not included in the count).

If they haven't downloaded the shipping label yet you could cancel the order and order from someone else. If they have downloaded the shipping label you can’t cancel.

Best thing to do is message the sellers and ask when they intend to post. I have put my account in holiday mode because I had no intention of posting anything over the holidays but some people don't think to do that.

autumngirl714 · 30/12/2024 11:59

Thanks all! 🙂
I'm shop very frequently on Vinted and my experience has always been that people typically post within 3 days, and like I said in my original post, I would never chase normally it's just with it being my sons birthday I'm just wondering if it's generally ok to message. Maybe I should've messaged initially but obviously I can't go back in time and message before I ordered them now.
For what it's worth, they only have up until the 3rd to post anyway. That just doesn't leave me long to source something else to replace them if they don't send!

I've never had issues on Vinted before, but in December and November I had 3 sellers not send items and 1 cancel after days of ordering, so I'm just feeling a bit wounded!

I'll try and put together a nice message and see!

I don't usually message unless the seller does, although once when something was for DS's birthday I did send the seller a message saying something along the lines of "I know I should have asked beforehand but this is a gift for my son's birthday on X date, is there any chance you could send before Y so we'll receive in time?".

The seller was great and sent that day, then I sent another thank you message when it did arrive.

I've sold stuff on there before and if there's no urgency on sending items out I'll just wait until I'm passing the parcel shop, but if someone did ask I'd have no problem making sure it went asap.

autumngirl714 · 02/01/2025 17:16

Hi all, just a quick one regarding one of the vinted sellers again. So one of the sellers replied to my message earlier in the week, and said that he would post the item that day. He then created a label. Fast forward to today, which is four days later and the item still hasn't been sent. I just feel a bit suspicious as his profile is blank, that item has been relisted, and he has no reviews. So I just sent another polite message asking if it had been sent sent as the tracking was still showing as him only creating a label. He has just replied saying "should update soon". So he hasn't actually confirmed if it's been sent or what is going on. I still have the option to cancel the order. What would you guys do? Obviously, this is for my son's birthday, and I don't want to be messing about when I could buy him something else instead. I'm just getting bad vibes from this person... should I cancel?

OP posts:
Cherrysoup · 02/01/2025 17:27

I’d cancel, he’s relisted it?! If it’s been sent, you get an immediate notification as far as I’m aware-I’m a frequent flyer on Vinted, buying and selling. You can choose the ‘haven’t heard from seller’ option or something similar. You may get negative feedback, but you can argue that with customer services.

LetThereBeLove · 02/01/2025 17:44

Cancel.

autumngirl714 · 02/01/2025 17:58

Yes it's relisted with the exact same photos.
I have cancelled but now the seller has to confirm? It's been 5 working days tomorrow so I wonder if I'll still automatically get refunded?
I just knew something was off with this guy. The other person I messaged was so kind!

Pineapplewaves · 02/01/2025 20:44

If the seller doesn't post the item within the timeframe given, Vinted will automatically cancel the order and you will get your money back. The seller will get an automatic 1* review "sale not completed".

I would stop trying to contact them and just let it cancel. It doesn't sound like they've got their act together yet/are still busy enjoying the holidays.

autumngirl714 · 02/01/2025 21:19

Thanks for the reply!
The timeframe had passed and Vinted don't refund me. So I requested to cancel and now Vinted are waiting for the seller to confirm? I don't understand how long this takes or what happens if the seller lies?!

OP posts:
Pineapplewaves · 03/01/2025 14:44

I had a seller who didn't post my item by the date given, two days later I still didn't get a refund so I sent a message to Customer Services. They said that they give sellers a couple of extra days to post and that I needed to be patient and I was assured that the order would auto cancel. The seller posted the item on the last day that Vinted gave them, at 11 pm.

I sell things regularly on Vinted and you get endless reminders to post the item after the first couple of days, they will have received notifications on their phone, email reminders to their Vinted account and to their usual email. They are deliberately dragging this out.

Because you cancelled the item the seller now has a number of days to agree to the cancellation or refuse it. You should have just left the sale to auto cancel. You will have to have Vinted Customer Services intervene now. I find that they take 2/3 days to reply and I've never had a reply at the weekend but hopefully you'll get a response on Monday.

😅

Like it was going to get there any faster if you'd posted it on the 25th or 26th FFS. Have they not heard of bank holidays?
