To put on clean pyjamas first thing and wear clothes over the top?

AIBU to get washed every day during the Christmas hols and then put on clean pyjamas (vest and bottoms) and then wear clothes over the top so when it’s bedtime, I just have to peel off the top layer and I’m instantly ready for bed?

Tongue in cheek obviously 🤣

If it's cold in your house I guess not.

stargazerlil · 28/12/2024 22:18

Unless your going out to the supermarket, we will all come on here and attack you if you say your wearing them to the supermarket 😍

fivebyfivebuffy · 28/12/2024 22:19

At agricultural college we used to sleep in our stable clothes to save time in the morning Grin

takealettermsjones · 28/12/2024 22:21

Don't you get sweaty with two sets of clothes on all day? 😂

ChekhovsMum · 28/12/2024 22:22

According to Mumsnet’s laws of microbiology, the germs from your outdoor clothes will touch your pyjamas at the neck, cuffs and waist area, and 16 hours is more than enough for them to migrate across all of the pyjama fabric and subsequently onto your bed sheets, which would then have to be washed immediately. So YABU, and gross.

Coconutter24 · 28/12/2024 22:23

Why the clothes? What’s wrong with just the pjs? I’ve had a couple of pj days over Christmas

Ginkypig · 28/12/2024 22:24

I’d feel like I was going to burst into flames if I did that!

im menopausal though.

maybe the vest but I’d wear that as my top with maybe a zip up hoodie too. I definitely couldn’t wear pyjamas under my clothes though! 🔥🔥🔥

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/12/2024 22:25

What's the point? I mean, it must save about 10 seconds, or however long it takes you to put your pyjamas on.

Were they not tainted by manure?

hot2trotter · 28/12/2024 22:34

I don't bother getting myself or my children dressed if we aren't going out - we've had a couple of pyjama days over the Christmas break. We always put clean pyjamas on for bed though.
Why faff putting pyjamas under clothes? Get dressed if you are going out, stay in pyjamas if you aren't 🤷‍♀️

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 28/12/2024 22:47

I’ve not been properly dressed since the 20th. (I have been really unwell.) All entertaining was done in ‘loungewear’.

Back to work Wednesday so I have three days to remember how to operate clothing.

fivebyfivebuffy · 28/12/2024 22:47

@stargazerlil clean ones only! Although by the time you got in from a night out at 2am and had to be up at 6am all bets were off

Ive not been properly dressed since the 20th century.

Talipesmum · 28/12/2024 23:07

There’s a Ramona Quimby story about this. She wears her favourite new PJs to school under her clothes and she gets all hot and sweaty and the pyjamas have to come off and are too sweaty to wear later on. Or something like that.

That’s 10 seconds too long this time of year 🤣

We shower and bath at night so we've just been wearing the clothes we slept in and changing after each shower x

Lobstercrisps · 29/12/2024 01:11

You aren't peri menopausal are you op. That makes me hot just thinking about it.

(I have just woken up soaked in sweat under a summer weight blanket in a cold bedroom)....

Craftymam · 29/12/2024 01:19

Well I get up in the morning. Put on pyjamas and then take them off when I go to bed so you do you 🤣

cherish123 · 29/12/2024 01:21

Why the pyjamas? Just wesr layers. If you wear pyjamas, it means you've got to change in order to go out.

Don’t EVER go to a Walmart in America.
You’ll be horrified by what the clientele consider attire in that establishment.
I think there’s probably highlight reels on YouTube, but I’d warn you to have a Valium and a martini before indulging yourself.

You seem so innocent and lovely. 🥰

tolerable · 29/12/2024 01:43

No1 benefit of having a dog in winter=ski trousers n anrak is all required for 88%outdoor ness.rest of time-we calling it "loungewear"

ForGreyKoala · 29/12/2024 02:43

Of course you can do that if you want to - couldn't be bothered myself though, it really doesn't take long to get into pjs at the end of the day.

Is wearing pjs all day a UK thing btw? I don't know anyone who doesn't get dressed, unless they are ill.

KathrynWheel · 29/12/2024 04:43

So are you going to wear Knickers under the PJs?presumably you are going to wear them all day then sleep with them on otherwise your plan is pointless. I wouldn't want to wear the same pair of knickers for 24 hours but each to their own.
