Cat vs Turkey Leftovers

We're in the last hurrah of turkey leftovers. DH has gone out with his mates and told the teenagers to make sure they leave him some turkey and he will finish when he gets home. He reminded them about three times before he left so he is fairly locked in to turkey midnight snack.

Just went down to the kitchen where the teenagers had been making turkey toasties.

Being teenagers they left the tupperware of turkey open on the bench.

As I walked into the kitchen the cat jumped off the bench.

I did not see the cat actually eating the turkey and I do not know how much turkey was in the tupperware. None of it looks nibbled.

Do I throw it out before DH gets home? Should I just put it back in the fridge like nothing happened? What can you catch from cat nibbled turkey?

I’m sure it will be fine. I once shared a bedside water glass unknowingly with my cat for months before I noticed and I’ve lived to tell the tale!!

Well I speak as someone who eats butter with lick marks in it so best not take advice from me.

I don't know how typical my cat is, but if it were her she wouldn't have nibbled it in a container, she would have taken a piece away to eat elsewhere.

DoAWheelie · 27/12/2024 20:33

I'd just put it away and say nothing if it was me.

This is what I have done .... I will report back tomorrow if there are any adverse effects! Although it might be the drink!

Yes fair, if I think about it my cat would at least take it onto the bench to eat, not eaten from the container!

I think it would be pretty obvious if they’d had a chew so I’d put it back in the fridge for him .

Put it back in the fridge😆.
Don't think there is anything you are likely to catch that you wouldn't catch by also sharing the house with your cat (Assuming you snuggle it) it's just ick factor. And what the eye doesn't see.......

hell never know. You can always buy the whole family some parasite cleanse tablets, pass it off as a new years cleanse.

EmpressaurusKitty · 27/12/2024 22:06

I think you should give the cat some turkey. Just to be fair.
